I’m guessing that the Navy understands very well what might trigger a Chinese jet to challenge them. And if the American plane has a CNN news crew on board, and just happens to cross a line that triggers a Chinese jet to challenge them, it’s probably on purpose.

I wonder if the P8 crews (including guests) are required to do the same level of training as P3 crew and guests. I can't imagine CNN journalists going through the high risk training in the water and parachuting out with static lines.
