Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday that the only way for Moscow to ensure a lasting peace with Ukraine was to push back the borders of hostile states as far as possible, even if that meant the frontiers of NATO member Poland.

Yes. Japan actually showed Russia what a post-USSR world should look like, to Russia. Japan lost its empire totally but through peaceful economic intercourse and cooperation with its neighbors, on mutual agreed on terms, it became successful in spite of the loss of empire. Russia could have and should have followed that example. Putin had other ideas.

And once NATO is activated, Finland could take back St. Petersburg.

A Polish soldier encounters a German and a Russian soldier. Which does he shoot first?

*Putin knows the Euro public hasn’t the stomach for a land war in Europe*

Sounds like Arabs standing up for the Palestinians.

Russia has not lost its imperial ambition

Yet it's NATO that has expanded by 300% since it began.

I may be mistaken, but I believe that Medvedev is actually quite sane, and this is his way of campaigning to be Putin’s
successor. He’s posing as the toughest junkyard dog to try to get the top job.

I guess we’ll be told Poland is really part of Russia.

It would be far better to both oust Putin AND to weaken Russia.

NATO hasn’t conquered a single country. People JOIN NATO they don’t get attacked.

Our local yard sale expanded quite a bit last year. Didn’t kill any families and take over their houses to do it.

You’re an anti American propagandist.

Maybe, if Russia to learned to stay within its borders, its neighbors wouldn't be so desperate to join NATO and gain its protection.

So let’s just say, folks in Mexico vote for a government that wants Russian or Chinese bases in Mexico. Should we just sit idly by and let it happen?

And don’t think this scenario isn’t all that far-fetched. We went to war with Germany in 1917, over a Telegram.

The colors on the maps of Europe are simply snapshots taken at specific points in time.

Yes, one would agree so but look how empowered and enabled he is now that we’re in Obama’s third term.

Planting seeds for the next generation, so that even if Russia loses this round, they will just come back later. If Russia continues to be isolated, the next generation will be fed the kind of “stabbed in the back” crap that the Germans were fed after WWI, and we all know what that led to.

Great points. A new strongman will emerge, promising to restore their former glory, instead of just hinting at it. They certainly have the resources, and if the West continues its current decline...

Which members were invaded, as opposed to eagerly joined to provide them some protection from a revanchist Russia?

People JOIN NATO they don’t get attacked.
———
Western nations join NATO because the US tells them to. NATO then uses their real estate to station shorter range missiles to target the Russian Federation.

Maybe Mexico should apply for entry as a Province of the Russian Federation, or at least the Brics.

“Just over two weeks after Russian state media announced that Iran and Argentina filed their official applications to join BRICS, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt began the process of making the same move, the alliance President Purnima Anand said on July 14.…” China is in, South Africa in, the list is growing.

Then Vlad can do what the US did in Ukraine. I am sure many Mexicans would be eager to regain some of their historical land back. Good for the goose, good for the gander?
