Former Vice President Mike Pence said Wednesday he would prefer a Republican alternative to former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, while floating reforms to popular entitlement programs as he mulls his own possible White House run.
"I think we're going to have better choices" than Trump, Pence said on CNBC's "Squawk Box" when asked if the GOP should nominate someone other than the former president next year. Pence did not explicitly rule out supporting Trump if he became the GOP nominee.
The ex-vice president, who served under Trump in the White House for four years, also appeared to take a soft swipe at his former boss when discussing Republicans' underperformance in the midterm elections.
"Our candidates that were focused on the past, particularly on relitigating the last election, did not do well, including in areas that we should have done very well," Pence said.
Pence is expected to be considering his own presidential run — a move that could put him in direct competition with Trump, who has attacked him for refusing to help overturn President Joe Biden's 2020 election victory. After Pence said on Jan. 6, 2021, that he wouldn't go along with Trump's scheme, a violent mob of Trump's supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, sending the then-vice president and congressional lawmakers into hiding.
But Pence offered only a cryptic answer about his presidential plans in the new interview Wednesday.
"I'll keep you posted," he said when asked if he sought the Republican presidential nomination.

There may be better than Trump, that’s debatable. But they aren’t you, Mr. Pence.
Gut the Federal government behemoth like a deer. Zero all foreign aid and only allocate any based on American interests. Defense spending limited and audited constantly, no more $4000 hammers or else people go to jail. Blow up most of the Cabinet departments established over the past 100 years, fire the employees, raze the buildings. You will do all of that before even thinking about touching the Social Security that we’ve spent decades paying into or there will be hell to pay and quite possibly blood in the streets.

Why doesn’t Kevin Breuninger do a story quoting some high ranking democrat on why he wants someone other than Biden.
Trump, the best president in my lifetime....had to put up and contend against the liars daily. He was the most pro-life president...had the best and smartest press secretaries: Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Kayleigh McEnany. He stood up for our troops and did much to help them. He did more for the people of Northern CA than other leaders did in all the years they were in office. He saved the thousands of people’s homes and lives by fixing the Lake Oroville dam. He did what the CA legislature could not do for their 15 years because the liberal leaders don’t seem to have the brain power or the efficiency to get things accomplished in efficient ways. Instead they seem to be in place to kill, steal, and destroy....Stop voting for liberals if any of you are!
Trump put laws in place to protect religious liberty on campus, and now the Biden Administration is trying to take that away.
He lowered energy and fuel prices. He stabilized our economy. He closed the Southern borders and started building the wall to protect Americans.
He saved American money by his smart business genius.
There are thousands of wonderful things Trump did and all the fake news could do was put him down and hate every day.
God bless my favorite president. He won the 2020 election by a landslide and while America was sleeping the lying thieves changed the numbers to Biden.
Biden got in and destroyed America and everything Trump had done to make America Great Again and strong again. Gas prices are sky rocket high. Children are being mutilated. The economy has tanked. We have double digit inflation. We have the highest interest rates on loans so people cannot afford homes.
People were forced to take the falsely called vaccine that was really a clot shot that killed, maimed, and disabled thousands...maybe more. People lost their jobs who were smart enough not to take it.
So what do we do when there are so many in power who are corrupt?
Here is what we do: Give our lives to Jesus....He will give you an eternity that is led by love and truth. He is the greatest of All. You won’t have to put up with all these liar leaders who are trying to destroy America in Heaven. All people will one day bow the knee and say JESUS is LORD to the glory of God our Father. Those that don’t will be pointed towards the lake of fire to spend eternity in agony. I don’t wish that on anybody. I even pray these evil corrupt leaders will repent...acknowledge to all the people what they have done...live the rest of their lives trying to do the RIGHT thing.

I think DJT defended Pence recently when the FBI was searching for classified docs at Pence’s house. Trump made some sort of comment about how clean or honest Pence is.

He’s setting up the planned Republican loss. Threatening social security is a sure-fire way to make sure that Republicans won’t have the burden of actually having to govern. Mitch McConnell must be quite pleased.

Pence has always been Establishment. He got lucky being Trump’s VP.
