Former Russian diplomat: Putin has already lost the war
Jerusalem Post ^ | February 23, 2023 | JERUSALEM POST STAFF

Posted on 02/23/2023 4:59:49 AM PST by bert

Once, Boris Bondarev was a Russian diplomat - now he is making startling claims about his former president.

ussian President Vladimir Putin has already strategically lost the war, according to former Russian diplomat to the UN institutions in Geneva Boris Bondarev.

Bondarev was a diplomat in the Russian mission to the UN institutions in Geneva - the only one to resign in public protest because of Putin's war in Ukraine.

He said at the time of his resignation in an open letter that the war "is not only a crime against the Ukrainian people, but also a serious crime against the Russian people."

Now, in an interview with Newsweek, the former diplomat adds that in his humble opinion, Putin has already strategically lost the war.

No thought of the future "Putin lost everything. Everyone must understand that he is not smart. He is not a strategist, he is simply lucky that his colleagues were even more short-sighted than him, but as mentioned he is still short-sighted, even very much so," he noted in a telephone interview from Switzerland.

He also said that he believes Putin does not think at all about the future, nor about the possible consequences of the bloody war.

"He doesn't think about tomorrow, only about a few more hours in which he can stay in power, he has no plan."

"Putin certainly thought that the war would be over in a few days, as happened in Crimea in 2014 and believed that he would conquer Ukraine and the West would simply accept it."

Bondarev said that the only way for Russia to return to the international community is by ending Putin's regime.

"The President of Russia was and remains the most significant threat to global international peace. If it weren't for him, the Russians would never have thought of a war with the Ukrainians," according to him.

The key word in this piece is "strategic".

"Putin has already strategically lost the war,"

Putin can continue but cannot win

All Putin has to do is outlast funding of Zelensky by NATO/US/EU, which is already falling apart.

The peace treaty will be signed this summer.

I agree 100% Russia lost this long ago. Yes, they can continue as long as they want basically, but every day the sanctions will bite further and Russia will continue to bleed money and men.

Boris Bondarev is a former Russian diplomat who worked for the Russian permanent mission to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 2019 until his resignation in May 2022 in protest over the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Ukraine is flattened, we are weak from debt and borrowing money to support their war effort and society.

Russia has almost endless money for this war and men, and see this war as fundamental to their very survival.

These articles and political discussion about how The Ukraine will with the war with essentially peer pressure childish. So let’s cut the crap and end this war. 100k people are dead!

“Sources (fill in the blank)” report Putin has already lost stories have been posted multiple times daily on FR since February ‘22. ALL of these Western disinfo “sources” have been proven to be total BS sources. Your post today is another derivative of the same media masters lie that has been told and debunked hundreds of times here. The big lie, in this case, still has no credibility. Nor do the hinterland neocon/globalist stooges who continue to post such rubbish.

Ukraine is flattened

and we've seen posts like that every day for the last year

so why can't Russia defeat Ukraine then, if Russia has all the advantages and Ukraine is already "flattened"?

LOL

(hint: you Russian shills are lying)

this war could go on for years ...

The level of intellect you displayed in your post is why this war is going on.

The article may be dated today but the content is old and been around for awhile.

Is there a recent propaganda diet going on?

I don’t think everyone that supports Ukraine is a neocon but Even the New York Times and London Telegraph are starting to come around to the Russian perspective. Maybe they will report on the pipeline next. The narrative is definitely changing.

you Russian shills always have lots of insults

but you can never explain why Russia is still stuck

if Russia has so many alleged advantages ...

and 1 year from now, this war will still be going and you’ll still be telling us how Ukraine is “finished”

LOL, repeat cycle

maybe Russia just sucks?

“simplest explanation is the likeliest”

You’re Canadian? How about this, have Canada start paying for the war and Ukraine’s day to day survival? You seem kind loose with American money.

You bet Bert. China has said that they have a relationship with Russia that is “without limit.” Keep flogging for World War III like a loon.

I have no idea what alternate universe you live in, but Russia is a poor country and can’t afford this war. The sanctions will start to bite harder and harder over time and eventually cripple the Russian economy. And the west resolve is not wavering, if anything it is growing stronger as the number of crimes against humanity committed by Russia piles up alongside of their mountain of dead Russian soldiers.

But I do agree the war needs to stop ASAP! And it will the minute Russia leaves Ukraine. And then afterwards we can talk about reparations to be paid by Russia for this.
