True that. We're supposed to forget that we were told these SNAP benefits were temporary to help with the china virus.
A government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth. --- Ronaldus Magnus
Maybe we’ll see a reduction in obesity.
My advice, GET A JOB AND SUPPORT YOURSELF!
Or lobster π¦. I remember several times seeing carts filled to the brim and paid for with state issued bank of America debit cards.
Sure it is!
Itβs a subsidy on laziness
Itβs a subsidy on pre-marital sex.
Itβs a subsidy on fatherless children
I could go on but I think I made my point. This is a subsidy on being irresponsible.
My dad us to buy condensed milk at the store. Mixed properly it was fine on cereal. Even bought powdered eggs, they scrambled pretty well.
Just think about how much hungrier they would be if Trump were President.
So, I guess they should go to bed Grateful and Hungry.
This person must of been selling them to a restaurant.
Good way to get cash for drugs.
The plan is to get people dependent, then pull the rug out from under them.
As the cost of living in the U.S. has gone up, government subsidies to help people pay for basics have disappeared one-by-one. Up next on the chopping block: Emergency allotments of a food-assistance program that supports 30 million Americans in 32 states.
Enhanced benefits for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, will end in February, meaning families and individuals will get at least $95 less per month, with some seeing cuts of $250 a month or more.
Households with kids will, on average, lose out on an extra $223 each month, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a nonpartisan research and policy institute.

βItβs not just their food money. Now theyβre going to take it out of their medicine money, or their heating, or their electrical bills,β said Beth Shapiro, executive director of Citymeals on Wheels, a nonprofit that delivers meals to elderly New Yorkers. βIt becomes a real health issue.β

Bound to make the bean counters on FR over joyed .... with other peoples’ misery.
“I’m hungry, but at least, no more mean Tweets!”
Not gonna happen. Another thread from a few days ago noted the stuff snap bought. Mostly carbs, they’re gonna fatten them up
I was in the grocery store, behind a person who paid for their groceries with a SNAP card. After the purchase they also got cash back from their SNAP card which they used to pay for 2 half gallons of booze and some cigarettes. Knowing nothing about how the whole SNAP thing works I was stunned.
I asked the cashier how someone gets cash back on their SNAP card and they said it's tied to their monthly welfare benefits (if they get welfare) so the cash was coming from those "benefits" and they can use it to buy whatever they want (booze, smokes). The cashier was about as amused as I was...not at all.
It’s easy to sit back and judge. And I do agree that the people who are wasting benefits on junk food, reselling to restaurants, or otherwise scamming the system, those people deserve to lose their SNAP benefits. But I’m in a lot of frugal-living discussion groups. There are people who genuinely need help who are going to be hurting when that extra gets taken away.
Ideally, communities would work together voluntarily to provide a safety net for people who genuinely need it. But it seems like governments all around the world have been making that harder and harder.
The more people than can make dependent, the more of them will vote democrat. The dims will always threaten that the gop will suspend their bennies.
The silver lining? Food prices can finally deflate.
Ain’t it great being behind a fat person with fat kids and a cart full of food whip out a EBT card?
Back in the 1930’s, grandpa was sharecropping and raising 4 kids. The county had a program where they canned excess crops and gave them away to the needy.
Grandpa said they weren’t poor and turned down the charity.
I just realized that having his attitude in 2023 would likely get them arrested for child abuse and the kids placed in foster care.
I have no doubt that there are people out there who justifyably need SNAP to keep themselves and family fed.
Unfortunately though, EVERY person I have known in my entire life who was enrolled and using SNAP, (family, acquaintances, etc) have not needed it, and where openly abusing it, and basically wasted their newfound income that they did not have to spend on food on other frivolous things.
So Im very jaded when it comes to SNAP.
