Wasn’t all that long ago that the lefties wanted to succeed. It isn’t any better of an idea now than it was then. I’ll say the same thing now that I said then, she is perfectly free to live where she pleases, but the U.S.A. isn’t giving up any territory.

What we need is more guillotines. Makes reducing leftist population so much more efficient and (relatively) neat.

I would also prefer the national divorce.

Still waiting for the “conservative” Republican Party to start reducing the size, scope and power of the federal government. They talk about it but never do it.

The Founding Fathers tried to warn us about the dangers of big government. The bigger it gets the smaller the people become.

The whole concept of “red state - blue state” is false and attempts to oversimplify a complex problem.

There are no red state or blue states. There are concentrations of democrat and republican power and votes however, and they do not correlate with state lines but with demographics including income, population density and race. Just stating facts.

I live in a rural ‘red’ part of a blue state where you can become governor by winning only the large urban vote. People ask “How can (insert a red state) elect a Democrat like (insert name of a liberal politician)? The answer is easy when you look at the demographics.

For years democrats have understood this and played a good game accordingly. Republicans have sat back and told themselves nonsense like “If we just show the superiority of our policies, they will switch and vote for us”!

Naive stupidity based on a false understanding of how things are.

Yeah ... it's depressing what public education has done for Grammar and History. I guess this implies the Confederate States "succeeded" after all.

Which was Trump's key to winning in the past. He knew you can't win a National Election without getting the votes of a lot of stupid people. You don't have to like that fact, but it's true.

Divide California, as it’s Constitution permits. Put LA ans SF in one State and expel them. Then the electoral landscape for the US changes, which will be an opportunity for increased federalism. If NY or Chicago makes too much trouble, expel them as well.

Sorry but in order for there to be an effective ,unified federalism, there has to be a consensus of commonly held values at its core. That consensus simply no longer exists in America. A significant minority and in some places a clear majority have embraced neo pagan hedonistic decadence. Abortion , homosexuality and all its permutations, habitual drug use, earth and celerity worship is celebrated. The likes of Obama, Clinton. Biden, Pelosi and the rest did not get elected in a social, political or cultural vacuum. Many among those people consider themselves “world citizens” and even mock and demean American culture and heritage.

Would be nice if a “divorce” were possible. Historically such situations don’t have a gentle resolution.

Well, we have the example of the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

We also have the peaceful separation of Singapore from Malaysia.

The main problem with Federalism is that the Left admits of no Constitutional limit to their power and uses every trick in the book to rig elections when they are powerful enough. So even more conservative states will be subverted from within and by Fedzilla from without until they, too, are one-party Democrat fascist states.

Even if possible, a national divorce wouldn't solve the problem. Either way, the charming Constitutional republic we knew is at an end: either we get a Pinochet or Sulla and some kind of constitutional interregnum to extirpate the Left and restore the mos maiorum or or we can look forward to a tranny spiked heel on a human face forever.

Could it be that the GOP (26% of registered voters), and Democrats (31% of registered voters) are both punching above their weight because everyone else is just basically trying to figure out which one is the lesser evil to vote for?

When the GOP turns its attention to practical consensus policy, it does very well, but you aren’t going to try to shove policy down people’s throats with a 13% approval and expect to win the next election. So, get real.

What if the left decrees less federalism? And what if the leftist states use their federalism to establish one-party state governments?

People are not so much stupid as disinterested.

They watch their thirty minutes of local and thirty minute of national and international news if that.

They are not interested in political theory or esoteric arguments with big long words.

They just want it explained to them in clear terms as to why they should vote for you.

You don't do that, they don't show up.

And why should they?

YOU did not put in the work.
