Support for DeSantis cools in latest GOP primary poll
Washington Times ^ | February 19, 2023 | Matt Delaney

Support for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis becoming the Republican Party’s presidential nominee is waning, according to a new poll.

Approval for Mr. DeSantis slipped by 5 percentage points compared to former President Donald Trump in the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll released exclusively to The Hill on Friday.

Mr. DeSantis now trails Mr. Trump — 23% to 46%. He previously trailed Mr. Trump by 20 percentage points in January’s poll.

Mr. Trump also comes out on top in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup with Mr. DeSantis, 56% to 44%, according to the latest poll.

Another sign that Mr. DeSantis is losing ground with voters emerges when the former president is removed from the GOP’s potential primary field. The poll found that 39% of Republican voters would support Mr. DeSantis for the Republican nomination if Mr. Trump wasn’t on the ballot — a 10-point drop from January’s poll.

I just hope we can live with another geriatric candidate.

The geriatric Trump could run circles around people half his age.

Come up with a better anti-Trump argument.

So people who love the freedoms enshrined in the Constitution are choosing a leader whose record of leadership is: Mail in ballots (guaranteed dem tyranny); ravel restrictions, unless you’re his unvetted Syrians, lockdown and, big pharma billions… maybe more, a bumpstock ban, no freedom tax assemble, unless your burning cities.
Trump handed the entirety re country over to a career bureaucrat… and created perpetual conditions for tyranny.
The world will ask him to take your last rounds, last weapons… his record as a globalist rubber task per is clear.
Not sure we could update lose more freedoms in his single term, but his record suggests otherwise we.

I want Pompeo/DeSantis.
Are you always used to not getting what YOU want?
Who's the clueless one in this picture?

The media and other numbskulls have boosted DeSantis ego so much with the Trump/DeSantis polls he would never play second fiddle to anyone...especially a nobody like Pompeo.

Did you even know who Pompeo was before Trump elevated him to notoriety?

Mike Pompeo for one is very, very sharp. That doesn’t mean I agree with him on everything, but, well, did you watch John Stossel’s interview with Pompeo? Stossel disagrees with Pompeo quite a bit too (not necessarily in alignment with me), but came away impressed, too.

Granted that Pompeo is starting from way back, but if he could get some traction, Trump would likely feel forced to attack, and I’m not so sure Pompeo couldn’t flip such attacks.

DeSantis’ problem is that he obviously doesn’t want to alienate Trump voters, and he (DeSantis) has been nearly invisible recently, outside of Trump’s attacks on him.

LOL. Just ignore the election fraud and reason from that position.
Ignoring the fraud & malfeasance means we will get more of it in spades and the deniers will just spin more theories about what we could have done to win.

Mr. DeSantis now trails Mr. Trump — 23% to 46%.

That's roughly 2-1 or one outta three, not good odds.

I love Ron Desantis for President, in 2028.

Pompeo had my vote as a possible VP, and future President pick. Then he revealed he was managing the information Trump was given as Pres & undermining his orders. Pompeo has a ways to go to gain back my trust.

I used to be big time trunp fan until he lost the house in 2018, lost the senate in 2020 and continued the losing streak in 2022 with idiots he loved like Dr. Oz. He pretty much caused it.

Well you are certainly over generalizing with women. Young single women sure and the reason Trump was denied his 2nd term was not “destiny”. It was diverse and ubiquitous cheating. The GOP’s denial or acceptance of the cheating is why the rats now have full control of every swing state.

Polls at this point are meaningless. Whether they show Trump dominating the field or DeSantis winning or “Surging” or dropping back. They are meaningless.

How about sick of losing elections since he became president. You must agree he’s gone from trifecta and nothing to barely a house.

Never knew Trump before he ran...and I'm a 79 year old Upstate New Yorker...and not from NYC...where Trump was a longtime Democrat.

Do a little research on Pompeo..He's very impressive in many ways.

Actually, no. A poll means zero at this point as DeSantis has not announced.
Trump’s faithful have a credibility problem. I’m not at all worried.

Pompeo also would likely need to make some firm proposals about reigning in the FBI and other internal surveillance of mere political opponents, as opposed to real threats, here in the US, to convince me. Among other things.

I wasn’t convinced by Trump early on, either, but then his position papers started coming out...

President ≠ emperor.
Trump did not hand the task over to Fauci & Birx. That was their lane. He added in the logistics used Pence and also Scott Atlas who exposed the incompetence and malfeasance of Birx & Fauci.
Trump was not responsible for either intrastate travel restrictions, masks or shutdowns. Governors are responsible under the Constitution & had full authority and autonomy over those issues.
People were asked by Pence to voluntarily stay home for 2 weeks. Blocking travel in from areas with high numbers of Covid infections like China was temporary, prudent & most likely saved American lives. That was Trump’s call

Yes Trump has done a number of things that I disagree with, but like it or not he’s the only candidate who offers the possibility of change. I’d like to think he’s learned a few things in the interim and would do better with a second term. DeSantis has shined on certain social issues, but he’s a globalist neocon on everything else. Go ahead and vote for him if WW3 is what you want.

It’s early in the game. Not even the 2nd inning yet.

Actually the lineups and batting order aren’t even filled out yet. All that’s written down so far is Trump’s batting first, Haley second. DeSantis is stuck in Florida traffic and says it will be this May before he is available to play, if at all.

When Trump gets trounced again in 2024

First of all, numbnutz, Trump didn't get trounced in 2020, according to both your text as well as your tagline.

As a PA poll watcher, I can testify that the PA election was total fraud, so stop with the trounce.

If the pubbies can reduce demonRAT fraud to it's pre-mail-in ballot levels, Trump will win by 35-50 electoral ballots, as he would have in 2020.

The demonRATs will commit fraud, they always have, but with some minor diligence, we can contain it and whip their low life asses.

You are one negative son of a camel.

BTW, being the son of a camel is lower than being a son of a bitch in all of the mooselimb {and where ever code flies or} haunts.
