Two Democrat members of the Minnesota state legislature, Reps. Heather Edelson and Jerry Newton, proposed a ban on gas-powered chainsaws and lawnmowers in the North Star State on Monday.
According to Fox News, the ban would go into effect on January 1, 2025 and include "any machine that uses 'a spark ignition engine rated at or below 19 kilowatts or 25 gross horsepower.' Commonly used landscaping tools like lawn mowers, leaf blowers, hedge clippers, chainsaws, lawn edgers, string trimmers and brush cutters would all be prohibited by that definition."
The ban would cover garden and lawn equipment as well as ice-resurfacing machines that are used in locations such as skating rinks, such as Zambonis.
Newton and Edelson are both members of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL), and introduced the bill as an effort to combat climate change, the publication reported.
The measure comes after Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed into law a Democrat-backed bill that "that requires electricity production be 80 percent carbon-free by 2030 and 100 percent by 2040. Republicans labeled it the 'blackout bill.'"
House Speaker Melissa Hortman said, "DFLers are committed to taking action on climate – unchecked climate pollution threatens Minnesota’s future. Now is the time to take bold action and ensure Minnesotans have the healthy climate and clean energy future they deserve."

Governments out of control going places they have NO BUSINESS
“ bold action ” is RAT speak for unlawful coercion.
I presume snowblowers too?
EC
Landscape contractors & snow removers be damned!
Here is an idea. The rich liberals in Minnesota should fund the replacement of all gas powered items with electric. They should also fund the creation of new electricity sources, or just say that Minnesota will no longer use any fossil fuels for electricity as of Jan 1, 2025.
In addition, all restaurants in the twin cities need to replace their gas stoves with electric by the same date as well as all apartment buildings heat and AC be replaced by non-fossil fuels by 1/1/2025.
Don’t half a$$ it. Go all in.
“ Now is the time to take bold action and ensure Minnesotans have the healthy climate and clean energy future they deserve.”
Wow what a load of BS. A disingenuous line only a scumbag rat could come up with.
Everything old will be new again.
Don’t half a$$ it. Go all in.
.............................
If they do that the frog will jump out of the pot.
Check out the price tag on those lectric mowers. They think everyone is rich and can afford a slice of pie in the sky.
Not the Zambonis! There’s nothing that screams “Minniesoda” like a Zamboni.
Zambonis!
NOW they’ve alienated the Cheese Heads
Wait! I know! Let’s outlaw everything Then we can imprison whomever we want.
“Now is the time to take bold action...to combat climate change. Ban lawn mowers, leaf blowers and chainsaws!”
Are there many real Minnesota farmers who belong to the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL)? Real farmers must know they are coming for their tractors, harvesters, combines and sprayers real soon. This “bold action” is nothing but a feint to soften up the peasants.
With total Democrat control that state will go right down the toilet. No reason to live there anymore.
IDIOTS destroying civilization by banning that which they do not understand.
Zambonies have been propane powered as long as I remember... And I played hockey all my life!!
If I were a landscaper working the state of Minnie Snow Duh I’d be tripling my charges to any state official who voted for this foolishness. As well as failing to do any mowing on state properties.
Let those ivory tower bee otches do their own yardwork!
Minnesota State Bird...the Loon.
how fitting
