No less than four threads on Free Republic allege that Governor DeSantis has received an endorsement from George Soros.
Almost all reference a 0:47 video that has been making the rounds on social media.
Here's the complete 2:41 video, transcribed by myself.
First, he cut their taxes. Second, he nominated to the Supreme Court ideologues who embraced an extreme version of the Republican agenda. Third, he put the Republican Party under his control by threatening those who didn't swear loyalty to him with a challenge in the primaries. Lastly, he encouraged Republican-controlled states to introduce outrageous measures of voter suppression to ensure that his party would remain in power indefinitely. With that program, he was almost re-elected in 2020. My hope for 2024 is that Trump and Governor DeSantis of Florida will slug it out for the Republican nomination. Trump has turned into a pitiful figure, continually bemoaning his loss in 2020. Big Republican donors are abandoning him in droves. DeSantis is shrewd, ruthless, and ambitious. He's likely to be the Republican candidate. This could induce Trump, whose narcissism has turned into a disease, to run as a third party candidate. That would lead to a Democratic landslide and force the Republican party to reform itself. But perhaps I may be just a little bit biased." Soros hopes that DeSantis wins the primary, Trump mounts a third party challenge, and the Republican Party, in its current form, is destroyed.
Not exactly a glowing endorsement.
Not a DeSantis fan over Trump.

Soros did not endorse DeSantis. He simply hopes that DeSantis would take the nomination and that Trump would then run third party and split the vote. Soros hates them both.

No, but he sees DeSantis as the best way to defeat Trump. Defeating Trump seems of paramount importance to Soros. Now that should make you think.

No, he's making a prediction that DeSantis will win the primary because he's shrewd, ruthless, and ambitious, while Trump is pitiful and is being abandoned by party donors.
Soros then desperately hopes that Trump mounts a third party challenge to ensure the defeat of both men because the last thing George Soros wants is President Ron DeSantis.

The “third party plan” for Trump may attract a lot of intrigue, but I don’t think it’s actually that possible under our system, which is designed to prevent “sore losers” from sabotaging the winner of the primary of one of our two representative parties.
It takes a lot of time and effort for each party to get their candidates name as a acceptable candidate for President in each state.
Therefore Trump couldn’t just switch parties in the middle of the state primaries, and still have time to register in all the states for the general election under a different party.
He’d have to drop out of the Republican primary almost immediately, is my understanding. And he’d have to find a party ahead of time to help him get all that setup, which would certainly leak out.
