That's a slogan gun-control activists on the left despise, for obvious reasons.

But two recent incidents confirm the common-sense truth behind it.

And perhaps you can add these words to the politically incorrect motto, based on the heroic actions of two American women, one in Florida, the other in Texas.

Guns, properly used to defend self and property, also stop crime. And criminals.

In Interlachen, Florida, a 67-year-old woman "fatally shot an armed man who barged into her home early Wednesday morning," according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Blaze reported Thursday. The local sheriff called it a "perfect example" of why he fights for citizens' rights to "own firearms," according to the Blaze.

And in Houston, Texas, an armed, masked man trying to rob a hotel got the surprise of his life when he pointed his rifle menacingly at the woman clerk behind the counter. Instead of grabbing the cash he demanded, she pulled out a handgun.

The would-be thief is shown on the YouTube video (with almost one million views) climbing hurriedly off the counter and racing out of the store, with no more money than when he walked in, his evil plan thwarted.

Well back in the 1980’s the WSJ ran an article recommending that if a woman was attacked by a rapist not to resist but to try and make the attack a ‘positive experience’ by talking to the attacker and trying to establish rapport so the woman became a real person to the rapist and try and arrange the ‘experience’ so it would be as comfortable as possible and finally to lay back and enjoy oneself as much as possible and if possible make a dangerous and degrading event an exciting and romantic one.

This was the WSJ, not leftist, pure Bethamite utilitarianism The basis of the argument is that if one must submit to a bad experience try and make it as less unpleasant as possible. Strangely enough there are a number of documented cases in which women have psychologically disarmed break and entry would be rapists with this technique. The men it worked on were mostly young and white and were completely flummoxed by a woman volunteaily undressing while continuing to speak calmly and softly to them asking them why they really were doing this. In a couple cases a naked older woman ended up having a weeping boy who was technically a man sobbing in her arms and begging for forgiveness. Not recommended in most cases but a naked woman with stones and real emotional control can sometimes disarm a confused and shakey boy pretending to be a tough guy. The phrase ‘what would your mother think of you doing this?’ does some time throw young white guys.

I agree. One of these women said as much, that in effect at that moment in her house the only card she had to play was her naked body which she showed by stripping in front of this considerably younger man and talking to him in a normal concerned/friendly way. She said she was very lucky she didn’t encounter a sadist but a weeping little boy who wanted his mommy.
