Mayor Lori Lightfoot vowed to do everything she can to remove unhoused people at O’Hare Airport, calling it a safety issue, after the situation drew national attention — and criticism.
Advocates and workers say the number of unhoused people that sleep or take refuge at the airport has increased substantially this year.
In remarks to reporters Thursday, the mayor acknowledged the seriousness of the problem — which she said was different than encampments beneath viaducts, in parks and elsewhere on city streets — even as she argued that the conservative media had blown the issue out of proportion.
“We have taken and will continue to take the steps that are necessary to move people out of the airports,” she said. “The airports are a very different place than on the street under an underpass.”

Isn’t it a safety issue to have the homeless anywhere in the city, not just the airport?
Sometimes you might miss a connection and they rebook you for an early morning departure. You sit on a bench and can hopefully doze off.

ONLY because it hit national headlines. Had it not, she would ignore it like every other issue going on in Chicago. Looking to see if she actually backs up her words. I suspect, meaninglessly so.

Lightfoot the lightweight lesbian has been a disaster for Chicago from top to bottom. Kick her azz out Chicago! Was the Mayor Daley Chicago corrupt? You bet it was. Did it work? You bet it did!

I used to laugh at the interns that had to clip newspapers, tape onto read sheets and copy them for various big shots and politicians.
Now clipping services are a thing, and at cabinet level pay.
Great place for the unhoused to hang out Dry heated clean toilets and free electricity to power your iPhone and iPad for entertainment.
