DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — Ford Motor Co. has suspended production and halted shipments of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup after a battery caught fire during a pre-delivery quality check.
Production at Ford’s Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, has been stopped until at least the end of next week.
The fire happened at an outdoor lot nearby in Dearborn where vehicles are held for quality checks. The truck with the battery problem and two nearby vehicles were damaged by the fire, Bergg said. No injuries were reported.
The company believes it has identified the root cause of the battery problem, including the likely population of trucks affected by it. “We monitor vehicle data to help ensure our vehicles are performing as expected in the field,” Bergg said.
The company will continue to hold completed trucks until engineering and production changes are made.

cruising for *ock as we say in Alberta. All coal, mirrors flipped up with no trailer. Trying to imitate a duramax and failing. At least it isn’t electric heh.
This is good news for people waiting for ICE F150’s that were stockpiled waiting for chips. Is Ford delivering ANY pickups?
I like to keep my oil clean. The engine will last longer.
Sorry but your warranty doesn’t cover Fire it’s a feature

“”Population of trucks affected???””
How about every EV, & EV bikes & scooters! Several NY high rises have BANNED EV bikes/scooters due to fires. Some European ferries have banned EV autos due to fires. Finland touts a 15 minute EV supercharger station. They do not tout damage done to the battery with fast charging. Some of the reported EV fires happen while charging. Some of the fires happen while not charging. Some of the EV fires happen while parked in the garage, not charging. Some of EV fires happen because.....? I have seen comments about how many gasoline cars experience fires. Perhaps. I can also envision the liberal wackos causing more fires with gasoline vehicles, just to make it ‘fair.’ Fire equity, don’t you know.
I can ‘charge’ my gasoline SUV in about 5 minutes, and drive 400 miles before another 5-minute ‘charge.’ While I have always carried a fire extinguisher in any vehicle, in 50 years of driving I have never had to use it.
You're lucky. It seems to be getting worse, to where I now routinely get out the meter and check batteries before installing them.
They are.
Paid more than I wanted in 2019 for an
F250 XL Gasser.
But now it’s worth it’s Weight in Gold !
Look for - the union label...
Or more likely, the Chinese component.
I’m in the minority here but do not underestimate the value of an EV off road vehicle if the sh*t hits the fan and you can’t get fuel. You can charge it by solar battery making you more independent. Ev is not practical for towing or serious work however
You don’t have to pay $65,000 or more for a dumpster fire.
This guy is charging his EV with gas power generator.
You just can’t make this shit up.

My adult son put in an order and deposit for the Ford EV 150. He was notified last week that his vehicle was being built. He has not learned if this battery issue will delay his vehicle.
We're making a list
Naughty or nice...
A little off topic but it’s quality control related.
I was talking to a guy comes to my office every so often. His son has a landscaping business and he bought a new CAT skid steer loader.
The loader tended to be an oil burner.
When the engine was opened up, no rings.
Amazed that it ran at all.
I replaced a car key fob CR2025 battery today.
No fires yet.
That’s about the largest vehicle battery I want to replace....
Ummm, no, that’s a Dodge.
Angry Ford fans with pitchforks and torches are now on the way to your house. :P
Dontcha loooooooove that UAW Kwalitee? :P
Ev is not practical in any way.
It wasn’t in 1923 and it is not in 2023.
