Three-quarters of remote workers based in the UK's capital city would demand an inflation-busting pay increase – or quit altogether – if asked to give up their right to flexible working.

The cost of the journey to work was mentioned by over two-thirds of respondents to the Bloomberg Intelligence survey of British workers as a "key reason" for not nestling their nose under a fellow commuter's armpit for a cramped train or Tube ride.

The news comes as staffers at gaming giant Activision Blizzard – among them a Quality Assurance tester who posted a screenshot on Reddit – have been told they need to return to the office for at least three days a week following a longstanding WFH policy.

What people say on surveys is not necessarily true, but this is interesting none the less.

I tried working from home for 2 weeks. Hated it. I prefer home to be a retreat from work.

We were already working from home before covid hit. Then a lot of people started working from home and I thought that would make it harder to get work but it was easier.

No employer who had staff working productively from home for more than one month during the COVID mess has any damn good reason to ever bring those employees back to an office.

These corporate and government leaders who bought into the Branch Covidian bullsh!t in 2020 opened a can of worms that I hope they can never close again.

I love it on the other hand. Office is too woke so I can at least avoid that.

Employers need to give ‘em a chance to put their foot where their mouth is.

I miss the homespun humor of Mister Bunker. As an aside , one of my children loves to binge on The Waltons.

Do people build houses from home? Do people repair furnaces from home? Work auto assembly lines? Repair cars? The whole world is not operating from a computer screen. I think however, too much of it is.

If they quit, where will they go? Are the jobs THAT plentiful in London?

I have to confess that as crude as he was; Archie Bunker made a lot more sense than meathead did.
