Vice President Kamala Harris told Politico during an interview Tuesday the U.S. military downing a suspected Chinese spy balloon should not impact diplomatic relations with communist China.
“I don’t think so, no,” she told the outlet while arguing the Biden administration seeks “competition” with Beijing and “not conflict or confrontation.”
The vice president also noted she made similar comments to the Chinese communist dictator Xi Jinping in November when they met at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Bangkok. “Everything that has happened in the last week and a half is, we believe, very consistent with our stated approach,” she said.

This is just idiocy. I’m relieved we didn’t kill any alien life but seriously what about the next spy balloon, and the one after that ?
In one sense, she is right. Countries spy on each other all the time. We spy on China. Its not a surprise that they spy on us. Spying is not relevant to our relations with them because we both know that we do it to each other. The issue is whether we need to be tougher on China for other reasons.

It certainly won’t. The Chinese would not have sent that large a balloon with that much very expensive surveillance equipment aboard without first getting the go-ahead from the Biden regime.

This is all about dressing her up to look like she has foreign relations cred as she prepares to “assume” the presidency in 2024.

So, business as usual? I think not. Because the CCP spy operation was largely successful, from their point of view, they have reaped a large amount of benefit at relative little cost.
First, it proved Joe Biden is still easily pushed around. The operation made the US military look like the Keystone Kops, all aflutter and unable to keep a narrow focus on what appears to have been a genuine threat, letting opportunity slip away for specious reasons, then vastly overreacting to following encounters.
And secondly, the CCP was handed a big club to beat the US and the Biden regime over the head, by making them appear hesitant and downright incompetent in new situations. There never was an orderly response, just belated reaction.
Did she cackle after?
