Musk was responding to former NASA astronaut Scott Kelly, who called on the Tesla CEO on Feb. 11 to “restore the full functionality” of Starlink satellites, adding that Ukraine “desperately needs your continued support.”
“Defense from a genocidal invasion is not an offensive capability. It’s survival. Innocent lives will be lost. You can help. Thank you,” Kelly wrote on Twitter.
However, Musk replied that the Starlink satellite communication network is playing a key role in ensuring communication in Ukraine but should not be used for escalation that could lead to a World War.
“You’re smart enough not to swallow media and other propaganda bs,” Musk responded. “Starlink is the communication backbone of Ukraine, especially at the front lines, where almost all other Internet connectivity has been destroyed. But we will not enable escalation of conflict that may lead to WW3.”

Elon does not want to give Russia a reason to take out his Starlink satellites.
I will just quietly nod since higher powers have put me on super secret double probation.
The problems in Europe should not be our concern now, we have enough of our own.
BINGO! It duzn’t work now does it you Deep State $h!thd$.
Not sure what he means...
The Ruthenians have total internet coverage but don’t have some other kind of coverage to be able to start WWIII...
One might hope, for consistency’s sake, that he will apply the same restrictions to the communists in the WH...
No one really knows what this means. If Starlink is as vital to Ukraine’s defense as it’s hyped up to be, we might see Ukraine start to lose ground at a faster pace. My feeling is this announcement may be kayfabe, that nothing has changed. If Starlink is that important, it wouldn’t surprise me if Putin sent contract killers (sicarios or various organized crime hitmen) or illegals* after SpaceX employees. So the announcement might actually be a way to signal to Putin that Starlink has been downgraded to the point it’s barely useful. The Ukrainians would presumably be asked to chime in with complaints so the deception acquires an aura of plausibility.
Seems to me that as a non-defense contractor, Musk’s businesses are very vulnerable to armed attack. So anything that he can do to lower the risk of repercussions to his employees from covert operations mounted on Putin’s orders is a good thing.
* Spetznaz, FSB or other trained shooters without diplomatic cover, guided by deep cover or sympathetic locals, much as the Mossad targeted Nazis and Palestinian terrorists abroad.
Somewhere I read where Musk is paying for this out of his own pocket. True?

Escalation of the Ukraine conflict is low key the Brandon Administration’s highest foreign policy priority. This of course deliberately poisons, in advance, any acts or initiatives geared toward demonstrating good faith, necessary for eventually achieving a negotiated peace. Musk’s (private sector) intransigence/passivity acts like an antidote to Brandon’s (public sector) poison/aggression. Brandon will probably brutally attack Musk to try to force his hand, and Musk, in turn, will probably refuse to play ball.
Musk also understands that his Starlink satellites are not hardened against attack by Russian anti-satellite weapons.
Well, as cheaply as Musk can put Starlink satellites up, compared to Russia’s being able to take them down in large numbers, Musk probably doesn’t have too much to worry about.
But really though, Musk can position SpaceX as “neutral but humanitarian”, as it’s pretty certain the Ukies get help with secure military comms from NATO.
The WW3 stuff in this instance is just some BS.
The Uke droans dropping hydrogen cyanide boms operated on Starlink. When Musk found out, that was it.

Spacex launchs new starlink sats at least once or twice a months all in different orbits in the 325 mile high. Last year the ukies ask musk to send them the receivers so they had internet again. Cost spacex 100 million yr for this service, uncle sugar is not backing up spacex for the service.
Starlink is simply stopping signals in general near the front lines and/or Internet video streaming from the drones. The drones already have separate controllers. Our Army has been training and providing Ukrainian soldiers with alternative communications since Musk’s last tantrum.
Wait, I thought the Libs told us that tech companies were allowed to create whatever rules they want?!
