Ranked choice voting is the answer to a question only a bureaucrat would even think to ask.
To simplify, RCV is a voting method used most recently in the 2022 Alaskan congressional election which Sarah Palin notoriously lost -- that in theory blurps out a winner that is actually (really really trust us on this) the most representative of the wishes of the electorate.
This magic trick is accomplished by people voting for their first choice, second, etc. and then the numbers are added up and moved about and cut and pasted and then the registrar of voters announces a winner a few weeks after Election Day (here is a more technical description of the process from a D.C.-based group that supports the idea.)
The specifics of the process are not complicated but they are intensely obtuse, leading to one of the major criticisms of RCV: trust in election systems is the foundational bedrock of a democratic republic and if that system is turned into a complicated black box, then that trust is damaged, harming the nation as a whole.
But the overly complicated specifics of the system may, in fact, be the least of its problems.
In reviewing pro-RCV articles and editorials and papers, one thing becomes very clear: political insiders, especially of the “progressive” stripe, love it.
It is popular in that milieu in part because of its complexity -- it needs more government workers to count and explain than regular voting.
It’s also popular because it favors a certain type of candidate and a certain type of campaign, to whit “moderate” and “nice.”

You’re not wrong. Free elections in this country are a thing of the past.
If the pubbies cheated the same way the left does, the leftist justice system would totally have people in prison and elections overturned, while the same grade, or worse, evidence of Dem election cheating would be “debunked”, starting with the media all the way through the courts.
“whenever there are voting changes in the name of “equity”, conservatives become less than equal.”
Political quote of the day - Ima stealing it ...
Two things about RCV:
1) can be defeated by running ‘trojan horse’ candidates
2) violates ‘one person - one vote’
Violates the principle of one person, one vote.
Also make it really difficult to audit elections (a feature, not a bug)
There is no problem. This is a solution to people getting more and more election integrity laws passed. So they need another instrument to enable corruption.
Is RCV CONSTITUTIONAL?
Hasn’t been challenged yet
No. The Alaska legislature did not approve it or vote on it.
Then write in Your own name or names of super heroes.
In theory, it’s not different from Louisiana’s jungle primary and runoff.
In practice, it took what - several weeks to count the votes?
That’s plenty of time to produce fraud.
Also in a regular election, if there is a recount, the winner rarely changes but the actual count does change.
Yet with RCV, the second count is exactly the same as the first.
Unless/until this crap is repealed in Alaska, that is what I will do, and that is what I did last election.
Voted for repubs only, no way I will ever vote for a rat in any way, shape, or form.
Is anyone taking this sham practice to court?
Rank voting is just another vehicle to steal an election and elect someone that was not even in the running. Just think of kamala Harris a big zero that was chosen is just like rank voting
It was challenged in the Alaska state courts, but has not been challenged in federal court, I understand.
RCV is unconstitutional.
I await the challenge because no government can tell me that my first choice will not count unless I vote for lesser candidates.
“violates ‘one person - one vote’”
SCOTUS decided that this was just wrong and that both houses in state government had to be based on population—one man, one vote. Oddly you won’t find the phrase or even the idea in the Constitution itself. But there we are.
We are so fortunate to live in a system where nine unelected men and women can decide important things for us.

Yep murk endorsed the rat because she is one
And all it seems the Republicans can do to counter the Dems cheating is wring their hands and say ... just wait till the next election ... it will be a red wave.
I concur. If the pubbies cheated the same way the left does, the leftist justice system would totally have people in prison and elections overturned, while the same grade, or worse, evidence of Dem election cheating would be “debunked”, starting with the media all the way through the courts.
