In early 2022 Ukraine had finished the preparations for an overwhelming attack on the renegade People Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk (DPR and LNR).
Half of the Ukrainian army, some 120,000 men recruited and trained during the last 7 years, were stationed near the ceasefire line and ready to go. On the opposing side only some 40,000 men were under arms. They would have little chance to withstand an onslaught.
Russia could not let a Ukrainian attack happen. If Ukraine could regain the renegade provinces it would have been able to join NATO. Russian public opinion was decisively on the side of the Russian speaking DNR and LPR. It would surely demand an intervention. Since the 2014 coup in Kiev some four million Ukrainians had already moved to Russia. There are lots of family ties between the two countries. In sight of this Russia had put some of its own forces on alert and had moved weapons and munition to assembling points near the Ukrainian border.
The U.S. had for months warned of an upcoming Russian attack on Ukraine. It could do that because it knew the Ukraine would attempt to regain the republics by force. It knew that Russia would have to respond.
On Sunday February 13 2022, after a phone call with U.S. president Joe Biden, the Ukrainian president Zelensky gave the final order for the planned Ukrainian attack.
That the decision had been made was immediately leaked in London as well as in Kiev.
In its summary of the day the Guardian listed a lot of activities that were consistent with the imminent start of a conflict. Diplomats and foreign military were moved out of Ukraine. Weapons flew in.

It is difficult to imagine the woke military of the US actually engaging fully in this war. The number of casualties in a true high intensity war have not been seen since the Chinese Thanksgiving Offensive in Korea in late November 1950. The level of shock in the US used to low casualty number military actions would be monumental, Even a casualty level of 1-2 thousand casualties a week would produce a huge uproar. However, once one enters a war one cannot pick and choose one’s casualty level, so a real open ended war could easily result. Big question, is the America of woke and queered 2023 psychologically prepared for any sort of large combat experience? Freepers, your ideas?

Per my last question, is the general population psychologically prepared for even moderate casualty levels (several hundred dead in a week for instance)? The answer is, I think mixed, The US would employ the completely volunteer regular military at first and then use mobilized individual and unit sized National Guard and Reserve formations as the regulars were attritted. Remember with the regulars less than one in a hundred US citizens affected as family members of a service member so that s an almost nonexistent metric. Especially as the left liberal media and academic and entertainment cultures are signed on for fighting the ‘The Hitler like Putin’. Instead of the usual screaming and posturing past conflicts that were not woke approved produced these people would be spinning up the biggest frenzy of unhinged jingo propaganda since the US entered World War One. Soldiers, the objects of hatred and scorn by the menbers of the political religion of liberalism would endlessly praising ‘our heroic soldiers’ non stop. With Guard and Reserve mobilization more normal Americans will be impacted but casualties will have to get really high to make this really bite in fly over country. Americans who do try to oppose this conflict will find out that ‘peace protestors’ will suddenly be very unpopular for the woke war. Indeed people protesting and using such common slogans as ‘give peace a chance’ will be called traitors and Russian agents and will be attacked by suddenly patriotic ANTIFA and BLM types. There will have to be real large scale mass actions as well as later deploying Guard and rserve units refusing en mass callup notices to really get the attention of the Beltway Wizards of Smart. Even then the initial response will be to unleash the FBI and the other three letter agencies to mass incarcerate ‘Russian agents’ as was done with Jan 6 protesters to try to terrorize thed anti-war movement.

That's impossible. in Feb. 2022, Ukraine was a naive, happy and peaceful democracy, midwifed gently into the free-world by loving and selfless Americans like Hunter Biden and Victoria Nuland.
Putin, because he is literally HITLER, sent his Orcs from Mount Doom to crush the gentle hobbits of Ukraine, simply because they are so lovely, and he hates anything beautiful.
For anger at the woke war and the deaths it causes some sort of an organized protest movement will have to coalesce. Unlike Viet Nam where all the pro communist demonstrators were coddled and praised this time real physical as well as moral courage will be needed as the peace people will be physically attracted, swatted, put in the JAn 8 Gulag and relentlessly slandered and abused and face loss of jobs and property.
I know of retired senior field grade Army officers who have been to active on military fora opposing the current level of US involvement receiving ‘politely’ threatening visits from the FBI reminding them that even in retirement military personnel have fewer rights of expression than other Americans and they can potentially risk UCMJ actions and loss of pension benefits.

I have started to think that Russia (and China) may actually want an extended war - that their thinking may be similar to what the DC neocons originally intended: let the West continue to escalate, see what happens to their own military strength, economy and debt, see what happens with German public opinion there, and see how things shake out when average Americans start to see the effects directly.
Biden's masters have shielded average Americans from this new neocon war. But what if that changed?
I know dozens of guys from National Guard units who spent time in Afghanistan and Iraq. NOT A SINGLE ONE, or their families, wants anything to do with Russia or Ukraine.

And BTW..that battalion has been deployed to Kuwait.
Armed Force recruitment is at an all time low. Generation “Z” those from 18-35 (I think) do not harbor any patriotism and would never sign up. If the draft was activated I suspect there would be a massive resistance.
Should we get Trump, or Trump-like President with matching Congress there is much work to be done re-establishing this nation. The Department of Education has succeeded in poisoning the minds of educators and children. The welfare system, originally meant to be a safety umbrella, must have the fat trimmed out; woke-ism must disappear from everyplace it exists, and so on. America needs to be re-made in the image our Founders wanted.
At this time, we are in no condition to make war with Russia or China!!
This is in fact Biden’s Vietnam. He has managed to keep US blood out of the conflict but it coming dangerously close to the horrific decision. Watch the GOP.....if they cave, then all bets are off.
