Greater Idaho: Counties in Eastern Oregon push to secede

"NewsNation) — Conflicting views on crime and social policies are creating a bigger divide between big cities and rural America, sparking efforts to secede. Among the largest pushes across the country, counties in Eastern Oregon are looking to be annexed to Idaho as a part of the Greater Idaho movement.

Oregon state Sen. Dennis Linthicum (R-Klamath Falls) introduced the Greater Idaho bill in January in hopes that the eastern portion of the state could be annexed to Idaho.

The bill requested “discussion between Oregon and Idaho governments regarding relocation of Oregon and Idaho border,” according to the bill text. Oregon kidnapping case: Protecting yourself on dating apps

Idaho state representatives also supported this movement, sponsoring a nonbinding petition known as House Joint Memorial 1, the Idaho Capitol Sun reported.

The petition invited the Oregon Legislature to begin discussions with the Idaho Legislature regarding the Idaho and Oregon border.

At least 11 counties in Eastern Oregon have already voted in favor of the effort to join Idaho. . ." . . .

See post #19. The only drawback really is getting Congressional approval.

I believe that there’s enough constituent support in both Idaho and Oregon that if presented to the voters it would pass. Hell, the way it stands in Washington State, if the Idaho/Oregon carve-out grows legs, I would bet that you would see close to 36 of Washington State’s 39 counties would petition to join the reconfigured new western Freedom superstate. That would be one hell of an achievement.

Dream on however. As far as getting Congressional approval for even the most mundane issue is ridiculously tedious at best. For example-All 3 west coast states passed regulations to stay on daylight savings time 3 or 4 years ago if my memory is correct, all it needs are the clowns in Congress to sign off. Who knows when the bastards will ever get around to it.

“There is no constitutional way for this to happen.”

Wow, I guess the people in the Greater Idaho Movement never thought about that. /s

It could start a brushfire that could spread. Someone shouts out that the Hawaiian Monarchy should be restored. There go 2 senators. Every native Hawaiian would vote for it. Those that live in the continental US will demand their right to vote on it. They can’t afford to live in the islands. We could tap into the resentment the rats are so good at doing.

Your scenario is what has been proposed by the State of Jefferson to be carved out of California. Adding additional Senators would fersure guarantee it will never happen.

Re #4. That’s right. The only way this happens is a general uprising. That’s all the feds need to take away our guns. Kind of funny. 2nd amendment was put in place to keep a free people, and the government cabashes it when used.

There is also precedent of Vermont seceding form New York State.

It can happen if the people affected, the state legislature, and congress agree.

In short, it would be 100% legal but it will not happen any time soon.

The Oregon vote fraudsters will never let their slaves go

Irrelevant because Congress would never approve, which is a requirement.

Speaking of fire..

This nation has 50 states for a prophetic reason.
It also has a Captain of those 50 (DC) for the same prophetic reason..
It also began with 13 Colonies for the same prophetic reason.

Divine Providence...

I suppose it could be divided or rearranged before the Age ends, but what’s due is some fire called down to consume two captains and their 50.. one Captain and their 50 of the 153 weren’t consumed.

A Spiritual fire to be called down, possibly a double portion of His Spirit called down on America, and the Nation returns to what the Church (began with 13, grew at 50, like the US) is supposed to be transform back into.

Law and order instead of lawlessness and disorder.
Justice instead of Just Us..
Consent of the governed instead of ruling parties..
One nation under God..
Not a Beast
Or a Whore Riding a Beast

Not sure that can preach but..

There is a precedent when West Virginia seceded from Virginia

Not exactly.

The Wheeling convention pretended to be the Legislature of Virginia (consenting to division), and Congress, or what was left of it, let them pretend.

After the war, the Supreme Court basically ruled that the laws did not apply between armies in the field, and so the illegal creation of WV was allowed to stand.

You're totally correct.

Not you, too!

Check out Article IV §3. It's perfectly Constitutional - just politically impossible.

Doesn’t that have to pass in Oregon’s state legislature in order for counties to bolt?

Yes, and Idaho's as well, and it has to be approved by Congress.

There is no wording that you cannot secede either. It was not a suicide pact. The civil war is always said to have “settled it”, but nothing in writing says you may not secede.

“There is no constitutional way for this to happen.”

Actually there is. Congress has to agree.

Isn’t it both legislatures and Congress?
So effectively won’t happen!

I was speaking primarily from the political aspect - and secondarily from the fact that most federal courts have been subverted.

To paraphrase King John: "The law [and the Constitution] is in their mouths".

Not only would you have to get it through the legislative branch - but there would be Article III stooges standing ready to put the kibosh on it.

This is a simple boundary revision, not the creation of a new State from the territory of an (or several) existing State.

Check the Constitution - this is not in Congress’ lane. This is strictly between OR and ID.
