Guess what?
It
Ain’t
Going
To
Happen
The Oregon vote fraudsters will NEVER let their slaves go...
There is no constitutional way for this to happen.
Of course not. The Leftists/Marxists/Democrats would lose billions in tax revenue. The need that money to continue to coruppt vulnerable children. As Rush used to say “they doin’ it for da C-H-I-L-D-R-E-N or da “CHIDREN.”
In 1995, when I was roaming around Portland, picking up temp jobs, the banter was, “Why can’t the rest of the ztate stop their silliness, and fall in line behind us?”
Tjhe same soft of “ New York City does not run the state, but where would the state be without us?”
Isn’t the wording more to ‘you can’t secede from the union’?
Isn’t the wording more to ‘you can’t secede from the union’?
You're totally correct.
If they weren't slavers, they'd give the east of Oregon a choice.
But - they're slavers.
Have some friends that moved from Oregon to Kentucky immediately upon the announcement of the winner of the last Presidential election.
looks like a middle finger to the Democrats
There is a precedent when West Virginia seceded from Virginia.
Come to think of it a lot of todays counties of Virginia would be better off joining West Virginia.
The democrats in federal government will never let it happen.
“Isn’t the wording more to ‘you can’t secede from the union’?”
I really do not see this as an issue. With the exception of one small area in Oregon, the area looking to become part of Idaho is contiguous. All that would have to really happen is move the state lines, figure out how taxation would work, redraw congressional boundaries and amend the states constitutions if applicable.
Granted, the political discourse that would go into this both for and against would be a hoot to watch, and I cannot imagine Oregon going to war with Idaho to prevent this from happening. What would change is Oregon would probably go from 6 congressional districts to 4 and Idaho would go from 2 to 4.
Klamath Falls is not in eastern Oregon. That’s just the author trying to minimize the movement.
If the movement was at all possible, the remainder of Oregon would still have two federal Senators, and the counties leaving Oregon would only keep some portion of the House representatives, which would become Idaho representatives. The better move would be seccession and independence from Oregon, and forming the state East Oregon. East Oregon would get two federal Senators. THAT would be a political gain beyond the mere “breakaway” and join Idaho movement.
The only reason for a west Virginia is the war.
Constitution suspended.
You could have Eastern California which has little of the leftist silliness of the Coast (even San Diego has gone that way), eastern Washington State, eastern and southern Oregon, and about 95 percent of Nevada join with Idaho. Like Idaho, it would become a great place to live, you would miss nothing with the departure of the liberals.
Borders between states are adjusted all the time.
Rarely do such adjustments result in any shift in population - i.e., the land involved is usually uninhabited.
But our Constitution does indeed allow for states to break up, fusion, cede portions of themselves, etc.
However, it requires a super-majority in Congress to ratify any such partitions and/or absorptions to be confirmed.
Regards,
Doesn’t that have to pass in Oregon’s state legislature in order for counties to bolt?
