The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday to convert a natural gas power plant to a new hydrogen system that critics say may not provide enough power and could cause more environmental damage.
The proposal is part of a “Green New Deal” adopted by former mayor Eric Garcetti to shutter three natural gas plants in favor of “renewable” energy — over objections that solar and wind power would not be sufficient, and that the move would cost thousands of union jobs.
Garcetti stuck with his plan even after the state suffered electricity shortages in 2020 and after Democrats lost a local special election in which the plan was a key issue.

LOL! Morons...
YOU CANNOT FOOL MOTHER NATURE
Coming soon:
OH, THE HUMANITY!!!
Does any actual every day America First Patriot care what happens in LA or Chicago or New York or Boston?
And where are they going to get the hydrogen?

idiots ... where do they think hydrogen comes from ... either by cracking natural gas, or burning NG to make electricity to crack H2O via hydrolysis ... thus, massive net loss of energy and massive net gain of CO2 ...
Isn’t the by product of using hydrogen fuel water vapor? Water vapor is the NUMBER 1 greenhouse gas!
This will end in a big boom!
What did socialists use for light before candles?
Electricity.
You can’t fix stupid, it has to be eliminated
Green New Deal = Global Power Mask
Your comment reminds me so much of Ayn Rand’s, Anthem.
What they really need is Dihydrogen Oxide. That stuff is unobtainium in CA.
Rumor has it you can buy it in Tijuana!
Ayn Rand had these “experts” nailed—they are witch doctors.
More people who don’t understand basic chemistry.
Yeah, Hydrogen, as an energy source puts just about every alternative to shame from comparison of fuel mass (i.e., weight) to energy produced. A pound of hydrogen will produce =much= more energy than a pound of gasoline. Hydrogen is also quite plentiful (see the Pacific Ocean). The issue is that hydrogen binds tightly to almost any element with open valences. Therefore, you have to expend energy to get H2.Then you have to store the resultant product as a gas, liquid or something you can use a catalyst or other reducing agent with to liberate the H2.
Bottom line, Unless you are using solar to crack water directly, in place, it’s gonna cost more than it is worth from a total energ perspective.
