This one is timely now for US history:
b. elections in person, and on the first Tuesday in November, excepting absentee provisions for the invalid, military, or overseas voters;
c. paper ballots, counted by hand;
d. vote count open to observation by the public, and by representatives of the candidates on the ballot."
State legislatures can vote to affirm that Congress can delay seating respective members until ratification is complete or state laws are passed in the interim to adopt provisions of the Amendment into state law.
There are still some areas of state law that need to be addressed leading up to an amendment.
Those are great keys to having honest elections....
It’ll never happen...
Went to an MD and 2 different dentist offices in the past 2 months and they all required photo ID.
Does my state require photo ID to vote? NO.
lets limit government instead of giving it more authority.. repeal the 16th first. Then the 17th
Fat fingers, I meant 16th & 18th. The 17th was totally idiotic too!
My union is very much against voter ID. It is a form of voter suppression, and it affects people of color predominantly. Or so they tell us.
Now here’s the interesting thing. To vote in a union election, I had to show my union card AND be vouched for by someone at the door.
Liberals sure are hypocritical beings.
This woman is running in a blue district. She’d have to catch fire in a wave election. Unlikely. ‘Only’ 12,000 votes to make up from the last election. She lost 53-47.
The only thing an Article V assembly is likely to bring is a cast of those desiring to eliminate the Constitution as the supreme law of the land.
...and let’s call an Article V assembly by it’s real name, A Constitutional Convention. I’ll ask for a list of names you have at your disposal that you would trust implicitly to preserve that particular founding document in a Constitutional Convention. There is precisely no one on any list in my possession except “the Lamb of God”.
Lol
My fear exactly.
I trust people first to do only one thing, what gives them the most advantage. Sometime after that they may do something right for the greater good without conflict of interest.
An Article V is nothing more than convening the devil’s workshop. I don’t trust anybody with that power. I don’t trust them with the power they have now.
38 states need to ratify. 13 states can stop any amendment.
That nails the coffin of your argument.
Given your lack of faith in the Constitution, how would you stop the cheating in elections? Or do you not care?
Yes, near perfect solution.
Which is why it’ll never happen.
Can't have honest elections
“Progressive era” ammendents:
16: income tax
17: senators elected by popular vote
18: alcohol prohibition
19: universal suffrage
All of them bad.
How?
Where does it say that?
Article V
The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.
It’s just an alternative to having Congress propose amendments. Procedure for ratification is still the same.
I see you have literally absorbed the COS BS.
1. The only organization that will be corrupting what goes on in a Constitutional Convention will be the corrupt media.
2. The Constitution is NOT the problem, so the question has to asked for the umteenth time, why would you want to amend it.
3. Worst of all COS would have you believe because of the 38 State present rule for ratification, that absolutely nothing can go wrong.
4. Only an idiot is going to believe nothing can go wrong. That statement is factually obvious based on human nature, and in no way is aimed at you.
5. I have every faith in the Constitution just no faith in the arm of flesh that fails to honor their oath to support and defend it.
Your attempt at deflection was noticed. I would suggest getting out of the COS camp which has as their hidden goal the division of the Republican Party. The South Dakota Legislature is as we speak deep sixing the annual attempt at destroying what the founding fathers gave us.
And how about “No member can run for re-election when there is a deficit”
I see you’re an a$$h*le. No further comment needed.
