Former President Donald Trump is ahead of his potential 2024 Republican challengers by double digits, a Tuesday Morning Consult survey found.
The survey showed Trump leading his closest potential challenger, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), by 18 percent, garnering 49 percent support compared to the governor’s 31 percent.
No other potential challenger comes close, as former Vice President Mike Pence falls to third place with just seven percent support. Former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, who is reportedly slated to announce a presidential bid this month, comes in fourth place with three percent support, followed by former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) with two percent and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) with two percent. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) saw one percent support, and Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin garnered zero percent support:
Roughly one month ago in this survey, on January 7, Trump stood at 47 percent support compared to DeSantis’s 33 percent. The current figures reflect a swing in Trump’s direction.

I’m not sure if it makes much difference which candidate the
GOP puts up for 2024. That candidate in effect has to beat
a female future President.
Thus Biden/Harris run in 2024 the election is in effect putting
Harris up to become President if Biden steps down for any reason.
And if it occurs 2yrs and one day after the inaugrations in 2025
then the VP steps up and can be elected for two future turns terms
for a 10 yr total minus one day. Ain’t life grand.
It’s already pasted the limit to where if Biden leaves now she
can step up and serve two elected terms plus what is left of the
current term.

My “dumb premise” is that no GOP candidate can win those States - The GOP will be wiped out in 2024 - White House - Senate - House all controlled by the Dems.
