GOP Rep. Greene seeks probe on why Trump not told about previous spy balloons

Trump has excoriated Biden for allowing the most recent spy balloon to traverse the United States for several days before shooting it down off the coast of South Carolina.

Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Monday called for an investigation into former President Donald Trump's ignorance of prior aerial incursions by Chinese spy balloons that the Biden administration alleges occurred during his time in office.

Greene indicated that the president would have likely been aware of such events had they transpired and suggested his professed ignorance of such balloon activities may indicate that the Pentagon withheld security information from the commander-in-chief.

"If it's true the Pentagon purposely did NOT tell President Trump of Chinese Spy Balloons during his administration then we had a serious breach in command during the Trump admin," she tweeted. "The POTUS is the Commander in Chief. We must investigate and hold accountable those who broke rank."

Greene's position on the House Oversight Committee, which is currently conducting multiple investigations into the Biden administration under the leadership of Kentucky GOP Rep. James Comer, may position her well to make such a probe a reality.

Former Trump administration officials, including Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, former National Security Adviser John Bolton, and former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, have all denied claims that Chinese air balloons entered U.S. airspace during the Trump administration.

The Biden administration has since offered to brief the former Trump officials and contended that the incursions were not discovered until after Trump had departed the White House.

Trump himself, and much of the general public, has excoriated Biden for allowing the most recent spy balloon to traverse the United States for several days before shooting it down off the coast of South Carolina.

This is a good point she makes.

As commander in chief, President Trump should have been made aware of spy balloons, if they really were over America while he was president.

This does bring up questions, if it really happened, who withheld information from the president?

Obvious answers:

1. We thought Trump would start WW III if he knew.
2. Mark Milley talked to his Chinese counterpart and said “We won’t tell Trump”

This is treason. Hangings are needed.

Members of Congress, two DNIs, two Defense Secretaries, the former National Security Advisor, and the general in charge of NORAD ALL say that there was no balloon during the Trump years. Does anyone seriously believe that if there had been, we wouldn't have heard about it?

If this information was withheld from the President of the USA--for ANY REASON!--the responsible party must be penalized to the full extent of the law!

There definitely must be an investigation and the truth of the matter discovered--PRONTO!

If, in fact gen mattis withheld this information, thinking then president Trump may
"overreact", he is subject to court martial, even if retired.

Yes, let’s call their bluff.

There are stories in the media how these spy balloons were over America when Trump was president.

The implications are:

1. Trump did not shoot down spy balloons, and/or did not see them as being a threat, so why are Republicans criticizing Biden?

2. Biden is actually a rough and tough leader, for actually shooting down a spy balloon, which Trump declined to do.

3. Biden is rough and tough, because he was on top of the situation, but Trump didn’t know how to deal with the threat of spy balloons when he was president.

I don’t believe any of this, but I think these are some of the implications they are trying to plant in the media, to change the narrative in Biden’s favor.

Either the people claiming there were Chinese spy balloons are lying, or these people who say there were no balloons are.

If the latter, then the military and the intelligence and defense establishments were derelict in their duty.

If the former, well, that’s just as bad.

Balloons during Trump is obviously disinformation just like Russia Russia Russia. If there had been balloons someone would have posted to the internet about it.

The present administration is claiming THREE balloons crossed the US during Trumps administration, yet not one person saw one...

The Chinese balloon that was FINALLY shot down by Biden’s administration was viewed by quite a few civilians all across the US...

Strange how NO ONE saw a balloon when three came across, yet when just that one comes, it is viewed with the naked eye...

“The Biden administration has since offered to brief the former Trump officials”

This is SO bizarre. Has any administration ever briefed the prior administration on national security matters? Maybe consult with the prior administration for strategy discussions, but just “brief” them? To what end? Just to make Biden & Co feel good? To somehow atone? To somehow let them say “We’ve done our part”?

Utterly bizarre.

Maxine Waters said her biggest concern about North Korea was that if Kim Jong Un hit California with a nuclear missile, Trump might use it as a pretext to start a war.

I believe the info on the 3 previous balloons came from the intelligence community. We know how reliable they are about all things related to Trump and Biden.

As much as I detest Waters and all she stands for, she actually never said that.

It is believable, though, because she is so dog-gone stupid.
