What did Reuters have to say about the hockey stick which only showed a 20 year up trend?

The old avg rule was...I think...You throw out the highest and the lowest and avg what's left. So we never see the coldest and hottest....But what if...climate data bases are throwing out only the lowest.
After Katrina and that Cat 5....they were suppose to occur every year....boom boom boom...
