Republican Gov. Chris Sununu said he doesn’t believe former President Donald Trump can beat President Biden in 2024 — and is considering jumping into the race to provide “new leadership.”
Sununu, who won reelection to a fourth-term in New Hampshire on Nov. 8, said results of the midterm elections show Trump doesn’t have the same drawing power as he did in 2016.
“No. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, November of ’22 showed us that, right? Trump is going to be seen as a very extreme candidate. The country is going to push back against it,” Sununu, 48, said on ABC News’ “This Week.”
“If we just look at the results of three months ago, and that shows you where extreme candidates are going to end up falling. It can’t get done. He could get the nomination, but he can’t get it done,” the Granite State governor said.

If Sununu wants to run, he can run. But neither he nor anyone else should be setting rules on who can run for the 2024 nomination. Trump should not be preemptively disqualified, but Trump also shouldn’t expect to be coronated and get angry when others decide to run.
He might win NH in primary but that is about it.
He isn’t getting angry. He’s actually calling them out. There is a difference. He hasn’t stopped anyone from running but he’s rightly calling them out, giving them catchy nicknames. Turning his base against them. They want to compete then stop complaint when Trump starts to compete.
Thats the plan. Get someone popular in each state to try and stop Trump by splitting thr delegates. If Trump wins NH then wins SC it’s pretty much game over which is why Nikki, Scott and Sunnun is trying to prevent.
What is wrong with that family?
I honestly wonder who will vote for these nothingburgers? (Sununu, Haley, Bolton, ...)
Maybe they’re just in it for the campaign funding grift.
Sununu?
Sorry, but that would like returning to BUSH... no thanks.
This is why Sununu did not run for US Senate. Where he most likely could have easily beaten Maggie Hassan.
The Deep State sponsors of all of these major campaigns said they would promote him for POTUS.
The Koch people have stated they are not going to support Trump.
FYI, both my wife and daughter have met Sununu because of various legislation they were involved in. He is a deep state RINO, just like his old man.
a littoral nobody thinks he can run for prez?
They know they won’t win, but their purpose is to attack Trump in hopes they will get a cabinet position in the administration if they take Trump out.
Understand the GOPe is the problem and you start to see the logic.
desantis has been doing an outstanding job as florida governor...
trump’s “operation warped speech” against desantis is not a winning strategy...
Trump will benefit from all these 1-2% "no chance" candidates entering the race and splitting the "not Trump" vote.
They'll also help him by focusing their fire on Ron DeSantis, should he decide to throw his hat into the ring in an effort to be the "#1 Second Place" candidate behind Trump.
Trump knows this, of course, which is why he didn't criticize Haley when she formally announced. He knows she's no threat. Sununu won't be either. DeSantis is the only one he's worried about.
>> They want to compete then stop complaint when Trump starts to compete.
The irrational NeverTrumper mind... who can fathom it? :-)
“Orange Man BAD!!!” is, in their view, the only rationale they need to put forth.
Exactly. Nothing “new” about it, it’s back to the same old milquetoast Republicanism that got us into this mess in the first place.
Another one in fantasy land.
>> Sorry, but that would like returning to BUSH
Which BUSH? (But maybe that’s your point... dynasty.)
Sign up and get your floppy shoes, red nose and honking horn right here sir.
That will entitled you to always call yourself a “former presidential candidate” and get special seating at your local Elks Club.
We know you... STUFF IT CHRIS!
>> Trump will benefit from all these 1-2% “no chance” candidates entering the race and splitting the “not Trump” vote.
