“and indigenous groups”
This and only this is why they backed down
Have ZERO doubt they will somehow reword it.
Its good in a way that this is happening. If any American thinks that the Dems won’t classify any hunting rifle as an “assault weapon” if given the chance, here is a view into how liberals in any country define “assault” weapons.
“Finally Canadian people saying NO”
LOL! Please, Mr. Trudeau, can we at least keep our hunting rifles?
Just because some Canadians are standing up to the Castroites in Canada, does not mean that Trudeau and his tribe are relenting one bit. They just have to recraft their language and renew their assault on what what was a one-time dominion that still pledged their fealty to the British Crown.
Consider what finally happened to Hong King. The Chinese CCP ties are strong and growing every every day.
Still a tremendous amount of ignorant liberals & NDPs in Canada.
I wonder if lever action rifles are/were defined as “assault rifles” under this ban?
Actually this is just normal behavior...
Shoot for the moon, knowing you won’t get it.. back off some to look “reasonable” and get what you really wanted but folks feel placated.
Trudeau is a Punch-drunk Pothead
“Liberals in Canada folded amid backlash from farmers, hunters, and indigenous groups.........”
I think I would have inserted the the words, “for now” in the headline and lead sentence.
A small start, but Canadian voters need to remove liberals from public office and public employment if they want to make real progress.
Liberals always take a bite, sometimes they need to rethink the size in order to digest the item....... Liberals just bite off what they could this time, they will be back for the hunting weapons later!
They are still going to have an "assault weapon" ban.
So they did not say no. They said yes, screw me but no kissing on the mouth.
“Finally Canadian people saying NO”
Really? The nudge continues unabated. Each time these leftist globalists attempt to chest bump us back 10 feet, we see victory that we only took one step back.
After decades of this, we’re back 30 feet, one foot at a time.
I’ve posted on FR several times about Canadian firearms laws and my experience with them. Namely, each year for years I’ve traveled down the Yukon River in Yukon Territory and also in Alaska. I’m leaving May 15 again towing a boat I built.
But, each time, I get to the border, file my several pages of PALS paperwork, pay $25.00, and 5 minutes later I get in my vehicle and leave. They don’t even bother to look at my guns. So, these Canadian laws back in Eastern Canada make liberals feel good but carry little enforcement a continent away in Western Canada. Needless to say, I would be insane to go down the Yukon without a gun.
I guess anything that can be used to go against An over arching government who wants to control our party or life is in fact an assault weapon. Pretty soon they’ll be banning sharpen sticks because you might be able to threaten a government official with it Add commit assault.
