My point is that if you are complaining about misspent money, the activities of the Federal Government offer lots of cases orders of magnitudes greater. I gave just one example, solely because its of a similar magnitude as aid to Ukraine.
Indeed, I think aid to Ukraine is the best thing the US has been paying for out of the cosmic mess that is Federal spending.
And, moreover, many of these cases bear directly on the collapse of US society, as you are financing your own destruction. You are hiring and financing your own enemies, inside the wire, not in another continent. And it doesnt seem to bother you.
Instead you are exercised only by aid sent to Ukraine.
The numbers were recently published in a pro-western paper. I will find it…. But Russia can build 250 new tanks a year (T-94s) and refurbishes 650 a year (T72s) by fitting them with new optics, fire control and armor.
But artillery plus drones makes tanks obsolete and that’s where the Ukrainians (and we) lose the battle.
Not sure if we actually make any now. The plant in Lima OH is mostly for repairs now.

In war there is good news and bad news, and gloom and doom; it depends on who is giving the story and under what circumstances. I remember seeing newsreels from WWII with Marines breaking down and full of despair…about Guadalcanal; and Tarawa; and Iwo Jima; and Okinawa. Hard-fought battles, yes; terrible slaughter, yes. But they were battles we WON.

The operative word being RUMOR. That you are repeating a rumor says a lot about you.

Lima does overhauls and rebuilds, using the 3500 or so M1 tanks in reserve inventory. Mostly IIRC these are upgrades. Thats a very deep mine for working chassis, as the M1’s are very modular.
New armored vehicles will be very different. As you say, the old paradigm of tanks is reaching its end. Something new is coming. The US does have substantial production capacity for armored vehicles. These guys for instance.

armor crews are training in the UK and throughout Europe, I believe some in the United States.
Therefore, one wonders why anyone would post that the Ukrainians are using little children too young to drive a tank.
One article about the first 17 tanks and some people here become very upset.
Maybe the tank crews will have bricks tied to their shoes to make them taller, like the little kid in the second Indiana Jones movie.

I fully expect the West to somehow escalate, but with what? The Ukies are scrapping the bottom, now on their 12th ( yes 12th) mobilization, mostly old men….18-60 is the age grouping, but the video of Ukie dead shows many 40-50 year old aged men….most likely the Ukie Territorial battalions? Vlad’s artillery is, as usual, decimating them.
