Residents in Billings, Montana, reported an 'explosion in the sky' after US officials warned of a Chinese spy balloon flying over the region.
Bizarre video of the aftermath shows a trail of smoke in the sky where the balloon was last spotted.
Dolly Moore, who took video of the scene, said she 'saw a jet go by so fast and then explosion in the sky. '

FYI: The warhead on the US Sidewinder missile did NOT detonate when it impacted the Chinese War Balloon. It could be because the target was too soft to cause the missile’s impact fuse to work, and maybe its proximity fuse could not “see” the thin floating balloon enough, that it was unable to reflect enough of a signal to “read” its proximity. But more likely? I believe the US Air Force removed the explosive warhead from the missile, so they were basically firing a supersonic dart at the balloon, so as to take no chances of damaging the technological apparatus it was carrying!

How does a latex balloon, probably filled with hydrogen, and a metal lattice burn so long with a smoke trail?
That looks more like a contrail than a falling balloon.
Also, I thought it wasn’t shot down until over the Atlantic Ocean. Was this another one? Or the one that was over Canada?

That metal lattice probably reflected enough radar waves to be acquired. However, I heard that a sidewinder took it down which is IR guided. Pretty sure it wouldn't "see" a target that's be cold soaked for a week.
