A stronger-than-expected jobs report has put the wind at President Biden’s back ahead of his State of the Union address next week, and it could provide additional momentum as he prepares a reelection announcement in the coming weeks.
Biden on Friday hailed new data from the Labor Department that showed the economy added 517,000 jobs in January, far exceeding economists’ expectations. The president wasted little time connecting the positive development with next Tuesday’s address to the nation.
“Next week, I’ll be reporting on the state of the union. But today, I’m happy to report that the state of the union and the state of our economy is strong,” he said at the beginning of prepared remarks from the White House.
Unemployment dipped down to 3.4 percent last month, according to data released Friday by the Labor Department.
Analysts were projecting an increase of around 185,000 jobs and for the unemployment rate to edge up to 3.6 percent. In December, the unemployment rate dipped back down to 3.5 percent and the economy added 260,000 new jobs, according to revised figures released Friday.

“would” should be “wouldn’t”. Damn.
Their numbers are like the old Soviet Union’s crop-yield reports in terms of credibility....

The last really good one was adjusted down by 1 million jobs after it served its purpose.
Wait for the revised numbers, you must.
It’s fake and gay. In 2 months we all know the numbers will be revised down.
They were off by a million last year.
The ADP report was about 1/5 of the BLS report. ADP doesn’t have any motive to lie. BLS are already proven liars before last years election. There is no reason why government should be involved in economic indicators. The private sector can provide much better statistics without being biased.
It is NOT new jobs - these are people returning to work - mostly in Hotels and Restaurants - Trade Shows and Conventions for 2023 are booked at pre-covid levels - the workers are needed to staff the events. This is going to be an almost normal year for business travel.
Biden and co. lie about everything, so I don’t beleive their jobs numbers for a D.C. second.

.......most believe as I do that this 517,000 new jobs reports is just another lie from the lyingest administration in the history of the country led by lying news organizations like The Hill.

Production of left footed boots are up 2%. Chocolate rations are up 1.8 %.
