The bird poop is corrosive. Revenge for their brothers and sisters who were executed by the whackos!

They are things built to fight the wind. I’d guess the metal fatigue is higher than expected. There’s a good reason the windmills of old were very sturdy structures largely in a somewhat pyramidal design, make those forces push the structure into the ground rather than bend it.

That’s engineering failures.

I have seen china steel fracture on large structures. If they got a pass on materials testing and welding inspection many contractors WILL cheat and/or make honest mistakes.

for example instead of ordering a specified grade of structural steel called out they could use some common pipe material thinking the engineers callout for the expensive stuff is "overkill" and send out their rookie welder to glue it up because there is no "public safety " to worry about out there in the field anyway

They were constructed to facilitate grifticity.

it was just an example, we also checked steel materials in a lab and welding at shops and on site

Under-engineered and poorly built, using the cheapest contractor.

At least some of these monuments to collective stupidity shall no longer be standing as lonely and ghostly sentinels some fifteen years in the future, when they shall have been totally abandoned, their blades broken and the generator units forever stilled.

Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me,,,,

You want cheap, reliable and plentiful power? Go nuclear.

Of course, there is a contingent who does NOT want cheap, reliable and plentiful power, for reasons of their own. And they will use every means at their disposal to assure that such an infrastructure is never built. They are also behind the shoddily constructed “green energy” schemes, which do not work as advertised on the best of days.

Everyone of those is an engineering failure. Unless the steel is not up to the spec that it is supposed to be. Which is another engineering failure.

It is interesting that GE, Vestas and Siememns are all having the same problem.
Some mechanical engineers are sweating it right now.

Tesla understood harmonics and resonance. Greenies do not.

That is nothing compared to some of the things I have caught on huge structures , from Dams to High occupancy high rise buildings. I could write a novel longer than Tale of Two Cities with all the stories of battles with contractors

The tips of those blades are moving close to the speed of sound. The wing tip vortices Are strong and vary with wind speed and ground effect. It creates unknown vibrations resulting in fatigue of blades and structures. Then bang. Off they fly. Stand clear. They could ruin your day.

Imagine, the “Green Grifters” may be using sub-standard materials.
No problem. All bribes and kickbacks were paid on time.

Algore and Greta both believe street lights should be pointed down to take advantage of gravity and thus use less wattage.

I wonder if it’s inferior material, inferior design, or something else. I wonder if they extensively tested these towers for vibrations and destructive harmonics? Could something like a mass tuned damper eliminate issues?
