Manchin and Cruz team up on bill to protect gas stoves

Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) introduced a new bill Thursday which would prevent the Consumer Product Safety Commission from regulating the banning of gas stoves.

The Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act comes on the heels of national debate over a CPSC comissioner raising the prospect of a ban on the stoves, citing studies that show gas stoves reduce air quality in homes and can lead to an increased risk of asthma in children in some cases.

The CPSC has not considered any official recommendations to ban or limit the sale of gas stoves.

“I’ll tell you one thing, they’re not taking my gas stove out,” Manchin said at a hearing of the Senate Energy & Natural Resources on Thursday. “My wife and I would both be upset.”

That commissioner’s statements sparked online outrage from conservatives, with viral tweets of people leaving on their gas stoves in order to “troll the libs” and feature segments on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show.

Not a smash and grab. They put out the “banning Gas stoves” story just to grease the skids for another power grab. It’s what they do!

He really is. He’s taking a stand here only because it’s an easy and popular thing to do. Where’s Manchin when we really need him? He’s being bought out just like, well, a whore.

Anyway, it’s crazy that some federal bureaucrat has the power to ban anything on his own. Those guys are supposed to carry out policy, not make policy.

Too Late for New York - Crazy Hochul has already banned new Gas connections - my good friends who are in the Propane business are planning to retire in 2025.

NY State is screwed.

Democrats ruin everything. Why would this bill be necessary? Because some ossified bureaucrats have deemed it so?

Good Friends of mine live in the Binghamton Area - they sell Gas Appliances and supply propane to the rural areas - it is a family owned business - they plan to be out of business by 2025. They see no hope for Gas in the future of NY State.

What about Gas furnaces? This is so stupid. These agencies should not be able to create law- period. It is unconstitutional no matter what the corrupt USSC says.
