Former United States President George W Bush ordered the CIA to search for a replacement for Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat after the escalation of the second Intifada in 2001, the BBC said, quoting recently released British documents.
The US effort came after the failure of the Camp David negotiations in 2000 between Arafat and then-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak. The talks followed the escalation of violence in the occupied territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
According to the BBC documents, Bush expected early on that Ariel Sharon, who succeeded Barak, would use the Gaza Strip to sow divisions among the Palestinians.
The documents deal with discussions that took place between the United Kingdom and the US a few months after Bush and his administration, which was dominated by neoconservatives, entered the White House.

Obama had Bin Laden assassinated, Clinton I don’t even have to point out those that he had wacked (either he or she), John Kennedy went after Castro (along with Sam Giancana which got him killed), W was in on the poisoning of Yassar Arafat, Lincoln had prisoners executed without trial, FDR was aware of the attack on Pearl prior to it happening and ordered the Japanese ambassadors out of the country prior....

Just glad that Arafat has ‘assumed room temperature’. The world is a better place due to that.

My eye opening moment was in the late 1990s.
Texas schools were having problems getting grades up.
Bush tossed a large sum at the problem. That was his
solution. That told me how the man thought.
I knew right then he was going to be too far Left of
center.
Our per capita spending on students is not low. It
is close to the highest if not the highest. We
just don’t do a good job of educating. Look, I
don’t get a kick out of saying that, but the figures
back it up year after year, decade after decade.
Money IS NOT the problem. It never is.
