That was the whole purpose for Russia invading in the first place. Russia doesn’t give a rat’s ass about people; but it covets what others have, and always has. That’s one of the reasons Russian soldiers loot like wild men whenever they take a town: Toilets; washing machines; fridges; cars; anything that is not nailed down or already destroyed; and they send all that crap back home.
Russia wants the natural resources of eastern Ukraine, and it does not want an economic rival for the development of those resources.

What are you talking about. We sent next to no troops to Panama and Grenada. In Grenada we committed a TOTAL of 7,600 troops, from all branches; and that INCLUDED troops from Jamaica. In Panama, we had less than 28,000 total (and that included forces we already had based in Panama).

There is no such thing as “eastern Ukraine”. There is NOVOROSSIYA. It is Russian lands taken by soviet commies and given to Ukraine.

Russians have never been a free people. They have historically been insecure and paranoid; and, as all bullies, they pick fights with smaller and weaker neighbors to feel some sense of worth.
Because they are poorly trained and poorly armed. The only thing they have in their favor is those superior numbers. Western military forces try to at least equalize the weaponry to that of their opponents (if not better it) and also minimize casualties to their own forces. Russian forces do not operate under such policies.
The Russian strategy can be more effective than the Western strategy under some conditions. It fails in other conditions. We are about to find out what conditions we actually have here in a short order.

Ukraine is an independent and sovereign nation, and recognized as such ever since December, 1991 and January, 1992. Even RUSSIA recognized and accepted Ukraine as such (in fact, Russia was one of the first to do so; and that included the Ukrainian borders at that time!). You’re not liberating squat: You’re taking over the natural resources of a neighbor; so don’t give me this virtuous liberator crap.

You don’t even know your own damn history. Kruschev transferred Crimea from the Russian SSR to the Ukrainian SSR in 1954. Transferred legally. Thus, Crimea became part of Ukraine. Or, are you now admitting Russia is an “Indian giver?” That’s an old American term for someone who gives a gift, then wants it back.

If it is land within Ukraine’s recognized and accepted borders then it is Ukrainian land, not Russian land (or whatever new name you are applying to it). Russia recognized and accepted those borders. But now, Putin comes along and thinks differently.

If the Russians are so poorly trained and armed, how is it that they completely rolled up the CIA’s seven year, multi-billion dollar insurgency in Syria? They knocked out all that superior technology from Abrams tanks on down. It must be the training. Plus, there are at least a dozen Russian weapons systems that have no US equivalent of defence against. S-500, S400 air defence systems, Kinzal and Iskander missiles, Avongard hypersonic glide vehicles, Sarmat ICBM, Poseidon nuclear torpedo, Skyfall nuclear cruise missile, Orion combat drones and on and on…
I find it astonishing, how, fresh from defeat by the rag-wearing Taliban, America would go to war with an advanced superpower and think there would be a better outcome.

Ethnic Ukrainians appeared to be only in 20th century. And they was established by soviet commies by so called “ukraninization” process. Ukraine is absolutely artificial creation of commies. Before them there were NO Ukraine at all.
Same commies had given Novorossiya to established Ukraine. That are facts.
Secondly the today population of Novorossiya voted on referendum to become a part of Russia.
SO after some delays because of Minsk process which they say today was a ruse of West, Russia started liberation of Novorossiya and Malorossiya. Both territories are NOT Ukraine according their names.
