Alec Baldwin was on the phone during firearms training for a movie where he fatally shot a cinematographer on set, prosecutors said, as they charged him with involuntary manslaughter.
Santa Fe's District Attorney's Office accused the actor of "many instances of extremely reckless acts".

Mr Baldwin was "distracted" talking to family members on his mobile phone during training on how to operate the prop gun, Robert Shilling, a special investigator for the district attorney's office, wrote in a statement of probable cause filed with the manslaughter charges.

As well she should fall. She had one job (Armorer), which she clearly was not doing. The Assistant Director was doing a job (Weapons Handler) which he should not have been doing and for which he was untrained and unqualified. He got off easy with the plea deal and testimony against the Armorer. His testimony cannot help or hurt Baldwin.
Baldwin will be testing the theory that the movie industry standards for handling firearms (Safety Bulletin #1) might override the laws of the State of New Mexico. Of course, he was not following those safety standards either.
My guess is that the DA will get one solid conviction against the Armorer, and a weak conviction against Baldwin, which will be immediately set aside on appeal. The prosecution will make some incredibly stupid error that voids that conviction.
Egotistical jackass will probably talk himself into a bigger penalty than if he cops a plea.
I disagree. Baldwin doesn’t have a prayer. White guy, 100% hispanic jury, hispanic judge, New Mexico Law plus he really, really DID screw up and kill the woman. She died of lead poisoning NOT a heart attack.
If I were Baldwin, I would save a million bucks attorneys fees and plead out to 6 months jail, suspended, parole 2 years, record expunged at end of parole.
Look for him to suddenly vanish from his new home in Vermont and like magic, appear in Canada and then Europe.
I expect the charges to be quietly dropped or his punishment will be so minimal as to not even be a punishment.

Yes....but the DA gave a little speech...and she was pretty clear that prison was not her goal...not even a little bit. I’ll try to find the speech.
I know there were charges announced against Baldwin and the female armorer announced over a week ago. Are these new charges?
