Authorities officially pressed manslaughter charges against actor Alec Baldwin over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while on the set for the film "Rust."
Hutchins sustained a fatal gunshot wound on Oct. 21, 2021, when Baldwin fired a loaded gun. Film armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is also facing charges in the incident.
Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed each face felony counts of involuntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a lawful act, the New York Post reported. Neither will be arrested in connection with the charges.
The Tuesday filing merely represents the formal follow through of First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies's promise to file such charges, which she made earlier this month. Baldwin's lawyers have decried the charges as a "miscarriage of justice."
Baldwin previously settled with Hutchins' family and has moved to complete production of the film. Hutchins' widower, Matthew Hutchins, will receive an executive producer credit and has blessed the film's completion.

“...Neither will be arrested...”
Of course not...I mean...IT’S ALEC BALDWIN!!!!!
I won’t be a bit suprised if Hannah is thrown in prison while Baldwin walks away. To me, the shocker would be if Alec went to prison for killing the cinematographer and injuring the second director.
Wasn’t this in the news a week ago?
She’s the armorer. No one is more responsible for the weapons on set than the armorer.
Plus the prior film she was involved in as armorer, also had problems.
Yes but it’s official now. Trump gets the last laugh.
Amazing how huge sums of money can buy people off. Such a miscarriage of justice.
FTFA: "The Tuesday filing merely represents the formal follow through of First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies's promise to file such charges..."
I know. I understand her father is a Hollywood armorer, too. It all sounds like she let the crew stampede her and play with the weapons. “C’mon. Be cool...”
I don’t like Alec Baldwin....However, I don’t see how he is guilty of anything. They handed him what he thought was a prop gun, and the person who handed him the gun was specifically hired to make sure that this type of accident does not happen.
I dont believe that. I think she has proven twice now, that sheshould not be an armorer.
Sometimes nepotism is bad.
I’m no fan of Alec Baldwin, but the main difference between this case, a fatal car wreck with no alcohol involvement, or a different fatal gun accident, is the time it took to determine whether to file or not. For the regular non-famous defendant, I would expect probably a conviction, a suspended or deferred sentence. a large fine, but no jail time.
And an executive producer credit.
He personally hired her as an armorer and props assistant, and she was eminently unqualified for the job of armorer.
But she worked cheap.
The person holding the weapon is the one most responsible.
The law doesn't make exceptions for actors on movie sets. Baldwin was engaged in the inherently dangerous but legal act of handling a firearm and pointing it at another person. He didn't exercise due diligence by checking if it was loaded. As a result he killed someone. That's the very definition of involuntary manslaughter. Open and shut as far as I can see.
Do you think he would have checked the gun himself if the scene had called for a game of Russian roulette?
Manslaughter charge for Alec Baldwin in ‘Rust’ set shooting
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Actor Alec Baldwin and a weapons specialist have been formally charged with involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on a New Mexico movie set, according to court documents filed by prosecutors Tuesday.
Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies filed the charging documents naming Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who supervised weapons on the set of the Western “Rust,” and outlined evidence that they deviated repeatedly from known safety standards.

She was doing multiple tasks in addition to her armorer job. Multi-tasking an important role is not ideal if you want quality results. She didn’t hand the gun to Alec as is called for in most protocols. She was unqualified and should have walked off the set like others had. Alec is MOST culpable. He is the last defense against an accident. He’s the one calling the shots (metaphorically speaking). This was his baby from beginning to end and the buck stops with him. He’s worked in Hollywood around guns and knows how it’s supposed to work. He went cheap and played loose with the rules.
I think she was charged to provide more ammo against Alec. I could be wrong. But I think she will be exonerated but have no idea about moneybags.
