Florida lawmakers introduced legislation on Monday to allow people to carry a concealed firearm without having to get a government-issued permit – a move that could make the majority of U.S. states permitless-carry territory.
"Our right to bear arms, of course, is enshrined in the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution," Republican state Rep. Chuck Brannan said during a press conference in Tallahassee. "The bill that I will file later today continues to advance Second Amendment freedoms through legislation known as ‘constitutional carry.’"
The bill would allow lawful gun owners in the state to carry without asking the government for a permit and without paying a fee. Those who wish to still obtain a permit can do so if the bill becomes law. The bill would also not change who can and cannot carry a firearm.
There are currently 25 states that have constitutional carry or permitless carry laws on the books, meaning Florida could tip the U.S. into becoming a constitutional carry-majority nation.

‘BOUTDAMNTIME! And that’s all I have to say about that.
An incremental success, if it passes. Still, States don’t carry guns. People do. I submit that the majority of Americans are still subjugated because of the actions of a small minority.
Hope they add Castle Doctrine like Texas. I can defend my property and my neighbors or friends’ properties.
Wy back the criminal had to be inside your house before you could use lethal force. I nearly shot a guy in the 70’s coming through my window in the middle of the night. I might not have been able to shove him through the window he was so big.
I have been saying for years that the Second Amendment is a national right recognized upon the granting of statehood. And, can anyone cite any other one of the Bill of Rights that is “regulated” independently by a state?
Where I live I occasionally see men and woman packing a 9mm on their hips and makes me feel safe plus there is very little crime here.
I wonder what this will do for Concealed Carry reciprocity?
Rather than spout off on stuff you don’t know, look up FL’s Stand Your Ground law.
Florida was one of the pioneers of “Shall Issue” permit carry.
Check the text of the law ... most States continue to issue their “Shall Issue” permits so you can carry out of state.

California gets an “A” for effort.
