Revolt over House speaker inspires Freedom Caucus lawmakers in the states: "There are 50 swamps"
Washington Times ^ | Jan 31 | By Tom Howell Jr.

A coalition of “Freedom Caucus” lawmakers say there is a swamp in each of the 50 states that they will try to drain, pointing to the concessions that archconservatives won in the recent fight over the House speaker on Capitol Hill.

The president of the State Freedom Caucus Network told Fox News that it has 10 state chapters up and running.

“Because of what the House Freedom Caucus did in January during the speaker fight, that has created such a huge inspiration among state lawmakers all over the country,” Andrew Roth told Fox News Digital. “One thing that people may not realize is that there are 50 swamps in the 50 states.”

He said the network, set up in 2021 with support from Freedom Caucus figures in Washington, allows like-minded Republicans to swap strategies and tactics in their advocacy for accountable and limited government.

The report pointed to a battle in South Dakota, where lawmakers are challenging a rule that let Republican Gov. Kristi Noem and her agencies introduce bills without a legislative sponsor.

In South Carolina, caucus members are objecting to new rules that seem to limit their ability to assist campaigns against fellow Republicans or divulge conversations among Republicans to outside groups.

The state lawmakers are pushing back after they were inspired by the raucous marathon vote to elect House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

Arizona had a great bunch of candidates. Most of them had their election stolen. The Machine made quite sure anybody who had the power to change things was part of the Machine.

We do have to be careful, because there are those who are working to drivevthe conservative desire for purity into inertness.

Can’t speak for other states. But Texas, with 2:1 GOP Majorities and Republican Governors, could not get CRAP DONE...even Voter ID, which eventually did pass, took forever. But other stuff, like school choice, not funding leftist idiocy - FORGET IT.

Georgia? Kemp and Raffensberger?

Ever heard of the Okefenokee Swamp? That was the model for our RINOs.

Not swampy. More gutless than swampy.

Two big population pockets of orwellian socialists.

There’s an Israeli swamp, too, but all I can do from over here about American swamps is share my thoughts, and hope that they lead to something positive. If you’d rather not read them, you don’t have to read them.

But we have the same darn people in leadership who masked us, locked us down, spent how much to pay people to stay home, gave how much to big pharma and Obama’s two proxy wars in Ukraine and Syria.
This group made Biblical Christian beliefs from the first book.. a federal crime.
GOPE.

How "swampy" is your state?

West Virginia? Are you serious?
The "swamp" goes down to county level and then down to individual "club" level, no matter which party.
Now that both parties in WV have open primaries, the only reason to be registered in either party is to gain privilege.

Idaho has a swamp. RINO’s that block true conservative legislation. We now have a Freedom Caucus, too. You have to be invited to join, you can’t just decide to join. That way they keep the swamp-people from infiltrating. I went to a forum held by the Idaho Freedom Foundation a couple of weeks ago & they said 10 other states had started Freedom Caucuses. Good to hear it’s going nation-wide.

State Freedom Caucus Network has one hell of a job ahead of it, here in PA. There is no dry land; it’s all a swamp.

We need a state GOP committee Freedom caucus in every state.

Time to take this government back. Oh, a school board freedom caucus in every state and county too.

Are you kidding? If New Mexico achieved swamp status, it would be a step up. This state would make a great 3rd world banana republic if you could grow bananas here.

Tennessee has it’s own swamp. Bills that have widespread support die in committee because the leadership tells them to kill it. We used to think that once the DemocRats were ousted from power things would change. We were wrong. Tennessee is a solid red state yet little is done to roll back decades of DemocRat rule.
