Yes it is. Which is why he was selected to the figurehead.

He does what he told to do and says what he told to say.

So you made multiple 6,000 mile coast to coast trips in Teslas and you put only 60,000 miles on your previous $100,000 car and then you traded it in on a cheaper one (maybe less than $50,000 and have put only 30,000 miles on it.

I congratulate you for putting 90,000 miles on electric vehicles that you most likely paid nearly $150,000 for. That is an accomplishment, but something doesn’t quite add up for me. Our two vehicles have 250,000 and 100,000 miles on them - mostly from us. They were purchased used for a fraction of the cost of just the sales tax on your two cars. We drive a lot but have spent at the most about $300 in a month for gasoline. So who is saving money again? We have never driven coast to coast in either, yet we have put a lot more miles on them than you have. How does that work?

That said... I am sure that an expert such as yourself has managed to get the rest of us to pay for a good portion of your cars in government subsidies. I am sure that this makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Can they electrify your carseat when they want to dispose of you?

no need to fabricate fake news about them, as you're doing.

What specifically have I said that is “fake news”?

And I have no problem with you spending massive sums of money on vehicles that have less utility than vehicles that cost far, far less. Both of our cars cost less than $6000 combined. My guess is that both will out last your remaining Tesla.

I didn’t trade the S in on a cheaper car, I sold it and have owned several other cars in between. The 3 is my current daily commuting car, although I also have other cars. I don’t drive Teslas because I am trying to go the cheapest route—if I was, I’d just buy a beater Corolla and forget it. I bought them because I like them and they are amazing technology.

Your talking fringe numbers here.

Sure, you personally as an individual might not have had any problems with distance driving in an EV, but your personal success would be a fraction of the tiny fraction (~1% of cars on the road) of the EV population that drives long distances.

As I stated, the infrastructure isn't anywhere even remotely close to being ready to support 99 to 100% of the population (an inverse of now) using vehicles powered solely by electricity. And, quite frankly, it probably never will be unless this country goes full or near full nuclear power to generate all that electricity needed. Think the green commies are going to allow that to happen?

Then, there's the environmental issues to deal with. Image the massive increased need for strip mining the resources needed to build the batteries!

It's not happening in our lifetimes with the current technology/electricity production/mining requirements.

And all that is just in this country. Imagine for a nan-second the expense and chaos it would take to build out the electrical infrastructures of South America, or Africa. And the additional mining required.

A few people who know a little something about this issue:

Toyota CEO Says "Silent Majority" Doubtful Of Electric-Only Future
"People involved in the auto industry are largely a silent majority. That silent majority is wondering whether EVs are really OK to have as a single option. But they think it's the trend so they can't speak out loudly." (Dec 20, 2022)

The green new deal people, the people who push EV usage increases inorganically, biden and newsome are not very intelligent people. They're scam artists and fools.

I respect that, and despite what you may be thinking, I am a fan of Elon Musk and think that what he has accomplished is incredible. I am also a tinkerer and have built both electric and gasoline powered bicycles for fun, but sold them for a profit.

I believe that the secret to accumulating wealth is saving money and not spending it on things that depreciate in value quickly. We own two large houses and live on an airpark with our airplanes. Believe it or not, real estate and airplanes tend to appreciate in value.

We have made money on collector cars in the past and I am currently working on a rare 1942 Cadillac. We are not planning on selling it when I am done but it will likely have significant value well into the future.

We currently have three grown children and seven grandchildren. It is possible that our first great grandchild will be arriving in the not too distant future. We hope that by making good financial decisions that we will be able to give them all a good inheritance when we are gone. Ee believe that is important. Squandering money on very expensive items that will quickly loose their value goes against our nature.

I wanted to make a further apology to you. When I was a lonely young buck... I was visiting with my great uncle who had become a millionaire in the 1950s when that still meant something. He asked me about the women in my life. He said if I wanted to find a really good looking woman, I needed to buy a hot car.

And that is the elephant in the room with any discussion about EVs. Almost every hot looking slender and athletic woman considers herself some type of eco-warrior these days. Nothing impresses them more than a new Tesla.

I followed my uncle’s advice and found the woman of my dreams about two weeks later. We have been married for over 30 years. I returned the car under the lemon law 6 months after that. So, I would be a hypocrite to tell you not to squander your money on a Tesla.

Who would have thought that a government agency would exaggerate to get people to do what they want them to?

I'm gonna need a bigger bumper.

...and as for charging time, the new Superchargers are FAST.

How fast ARE they??

Can’t even drive from Orlando to Miami without having to recharge- someone was telling me about weekend trip they took and told where they stopped to recharge with a straight face like nothing inconvenient about it. It’s a sickness.

Anywhere from five (5) to forty (40) minutes, depending on how much juice is left when you arrive at the Supercharger.

What did the 'fuel' gauge read before 40 minutes was needed to fill the 'tank'?

Were other Telsa waiting for you to finish before THEY could use the cable?

I assumed just ONE charger available above, but perhaps you filled up HERE:

I wonder how much current is being supplied to this charger circuit if all six were going at once?

anything that causes your battery to heat up will shorten its life.

Like an asphalt road in the summer?

It depends on the version of the charger. The old 120KWH chargers share power. There is an A and B configuration. The new 250KWH chargers don't share power. Tesla says a Model 3 will charge to 175 miles of range in 15 minutes on the new 250KWH chargers. That is assuming the battery charge is low. At about 60% the charge starts to slow and at 80% it slows considerably. At about 60% of battery capacity the power delivered by either charging station is about the same.

Last year, at our inaugural EV of the Year event, there wasn't a single vehicle that could tow more than 5000 pounds. There are now three such entries: the GMC Hummer EV (7500-pound towing capacity), Ford F-150 Lightning (10,000-pound max), and Rivian R1T (11,000 pounds). To evaluate this emerging electric-towing phenomenon, we hitched each to the same load, a 29-foot camper that weighs 6100 pounds, the sort of trailer a family of four might take on the quintessential summer getaway.

We ran all three trucks on the same 85-degree summer day on the same flat highway loop at 70 mph. Other than the slightly lower speed, which is prudent when piloting between 13,000 and 16,000 pounds of truck and trailer, we conducted this the same way we run our 75-mph highway-range tests, with the automatic climate control set to 72 degrees and running as many miles as we dared before the battery's state of charge became dire.

These new electric pickups are wonderful towing companions, aided by massive horsepower and torque that allow for easy merging with the flow of interstate traffic, and their heavy curb weights (between 6855 pounds for the F-150 and 9640 pounds for the Hummer) lend an impressive stability when lugging a three-ton trailer. But you won't want to be going far, as a full battery will take you a mere 100 miles in the Lightning, 110 miles in the R1T, and 140 miles in the Hummer. Although the Hummer consumes electricity at the highest rate of the three, its considerably larger battery pack more than makes up for the difference. (As with unladen range, each figure is rounded down to the nearest 10-mile increment here.)

That $7500 tax credit won’t mean much when you get your $2000 monthly electric bill.
