DirecTV announced Thursday that it has filled the slot of Newsmax with conservative outlet the First.
The contract is "multiyear," according to the television provider, with the First's programs featured on a free channel to DirecTV customers. Previously, the First was only available via streaming on Paramount Pluto TV, starting in 2019.
The First features the likes of Dana Loesch and Bill O'Reilly as primary hosts, as well as podcaster Liz Wheeler and Marine veteran Jesse Kelly. O'Reilly is the only host with renowned television broadcast experience prior to the First. He worked for Fox News for 20 years before he was fired over sexual assault allegations in 2017. Following his ousting, O'Reilly was in talks with Newsmax for a time slot of his own but kept his show No Spin News on his own website before bringing it to the First.

I have a ROKU, and my Samsung smart tv channel selection also has it.
Channel 1027.
And as I tuned in just a few minutes ago, this topic was front and center.
Here’s a much better explanation of the situation, it all comes down to money.
Newsmax started in 2014, Directv picked them up immediately, at time until now, neither side was paying money to the other.
As Newsmax grew over the years, they started to demand rights fees which Directv would have had to pass along to their subscribers, given how many people are cutting the cord to any satellite or cable provider, many people would pay more just to watch Newsmax ?? Probably next to Zero.
When that deal fell through, Directv added another startup conservative channel, hardly an indication of a political bias from Directv.

thanks, ill read through that in a bit
Who ever was gullible to think Oreilly is actually a Conservative? Oreilly is an opportunist, IMHO.
“...is it possible that they are trying to preempt Trump’s Campaign?”
How will we be tuning in to the next series of Trump rallys?
O’Reilly is consistently focused on O’Reilly !!
My thought as well. They have gotten Fox completely Trump free, and I am sure that ‘ol Bill won’t cover him, so erasure?
Bill O’Fathead
I haven’t watched him for a couple of years now. Does he still throw the stupid football?
Don’t know. Haven’t watched him in years..................
O’Reilly is a fraud. I never could watch him either. When his show comes on the radio for 15 minutes I change channels.
Always blowing his own horn, like Bill O
ATT does not own directv, DTv was spun off in 2021.
My understanding is that they still own a significant piece of it, although not controlling interest. What is your understanding and why are people going after ATT if they are not controlling it?
Liz Wheeler wasn’t the most polished anchor, but her slot on OAN definitely went amateurish after she left.
any idea what channel this is on????
“I said in another forum that Directv’s decision to drop Newsmax had more to do with money than politics.”
Then they should have replaced Newsmax with OAN rather than OReilly
Get them together for a Blovathon
Why because you and others like OAN better ??
Directv will do what’s best for them, they dropped Newsmax over rights fees and replaced them with another conservative network.
Remember Newsmax started in 2014, Directv picked them up right away when they didn’t have to and kept them on for 8 years.
Millions of Americans have cut the cord with cable and satellite providers, I posted the following article earlier today, indicating if Directv had agreed to the rights fees of Newsmax they would have to raise rates to subscibers. They made a business decision to drop Newsmax to save on the rights fees and put on O’Reilly’s network which costs them nothing.
