Anyone who rolls out the Budapest Memo is as stupid as the Ukrainians who relied on it.
And not worthy of further discussion.
For someone who throws the word “stupid” around like “good morning” or gesundheit, you sure are obtuse. It took Russia and the US 22 years to violate the terms of the Budapest Memo. In the interim, Crimeans lived as part of Ukraine, and participated in its civic life, voting, engaging in commerce, visiting and being visited by the mainland, and by vacationing Russians. You actually cite the Crimean War and the Charge of the Light Brigade as somehow relevant to the 21st Century, and dare call me “stupid”? Let’s all jump on our horseys and charge around waving our swords! LOL. Were you one of Putin’s “little green men”?
Ukraine taking back Crimea might save Russia. It’s a long shot, but it’s the best chance they have. They need better leadership and some tweaks in their form of government. Freedoms and cleaning up corruption. Cultures should change for the better. There’s nothing wrong with that.
