The new General Motors Hummer electrical vehicle, priced at $115,000, has presented owners with many problems.
Roman Mica, the publisher of the website The Fast Lane Truck, posted a video of a brand new Hummer with multiple problems.
Mica was unable to move the vehicle because the shifter wouldn’t move and the trunk would not open. He finally got it in gear and drove it back to the dealer.

Reports have been published that point out an “offroad” Hummer malfunctions if a car wash goes awry, and issues with the software have caused faulty tail lights.
The Hummer is not the only electric vehicle experiencing issues.
A 2014 Ford Focus Electric needed a new battery that cost $14,000 -- and the car originally cost $11,000!
Consumer research group J.D. Power last year published a study indicating that EV owners are far less satisfied with their cars than are those who own traditional gas-powered vehicles. And it seems that unreliability of battery power is but one of the issues.
And yet, “progressive” politicians and “green energy” advocates remain obsessed with forcing Americans to buy electric vehicles in spite of the many problems that continue to plague the industry. The most rabid proponents of electric automobiles refuse to let the free market decide if such cars and trucks are truly wanted or even necessary.

Once they had finished with the Virtue Signalling market, which can NEVER admit to their idiocy, they were left with people who actually planned to USE their EVs for tasks that they used use gasoline cars for...and those people are willing to tell the truth, which was that they got shafted.
The green agenda is going to fail, probably under the weight of a severe economic recession.

A year ago we purchased a 2018 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid with 30K miles..gets 40mpg. Very happy with the luxury appointments and performance. Frankly I think regenerative hybrid was the way to go to increase both mpg, but also as a stepping stone to electric or other “green” mode.

You should budget at plug in electric to be discarded after 8 years, consider it a bonus if you get 10 or 12 years out of one. And never buy a used one more than 4 or 5 years old, and again plan on amortizing it over 5 years at that point.

Absolutely right. But after how many more hundreds of billions of dollars wasted?
Could owners tell me if this tale is true? A mechanic told me that when the first few years of hybrids cost so much for the batteries when they wore out the owners one by one drove around for years with the gas function only. Almost no one had the batteries replaced.
He said the companies then changed the system so drivers would have to change the battery in later models.
Does anyone know if that was true?
The famous science fiction writer Robert Silverberg calls himself an “early adopter.” He was one of the very first buyers of a couple of Mazdas with rotary engines.
He was sure that was the wave of the future and would be what everyone would someday own——like his Betamax TV tape system that cost a fortune.

Tesla catches fire on Highway 50 near Rancho Cordova
Sacramento Metro Fire had to put out a fire on Highway 50 after a Tesla Model S car battery combusted on Saturday.
Metro Fire said that the Tesla Caught Fire near Rancho Cordova while traveling at freeway speeds and that it took 6,000 gallons of water for crews to extinguish the flames. Two fire engines responded and crews propped the vehicle up with a jack to cool the battery.

For people wanting to go the “greener” route, that is the way to go. Won’t leave you high and dry like all EV’s can do.
Toyota hasn’t succumbed to the green agenda and is continuing to pursue Hybrids.
