Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Is AMAC’s 2022 Man of the Year
The Association of Mature American Citizens ^ | January 27, 2023 | AMAC, John Grimaldi

Posted on 01/28/2023 6:59:57 PM PST by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

WASHINGTON, DC, Jan 27 — Americans continue to relocate to Florida in record numbers. The sun and fun of the sunshine state has a lot to do with it but don’t discount the attraction of the state’s governor, Ron DeSantis. He’s just as popular across the country as he is in his own state. Governor DeSantis was the pick for the Association of Mature American Citizens’ 2022 Man of the Year for the majority of the voters of its 2.4 million members, according to AMAC’s CEO Rebecca Weber.

“Once again they showed their preference for leaders who stand up for America’s Constitutional ideals,” Weber said. “He is a huge proponent of election integrity. He signed legislation into law in 2022 that establishes an Office of Election Crimes and Security within the Florida Department of State. He is a dedicated proponent of ID requirements for absentee vote-by-mail ballots. He signed a sweeping voting bill establishing a new election police force and created harsher penalties for ballot harvesting and instituted deterrences to non-citizen voting.”

One Man-of-the-Year voter said “DeSantis is no-nonsense. He is a doer. He has been on offense every single day taking actions to push back and make substantive changes to move Florida back towards the ideals this country was founded on. Easy #1 choice.” Another voter said he “chose DeSantis because he has all around been a great representative of conservatism on many fronts.”

Other AMAC members who participated in the voting said they liked the way he handles issues such as the bill he supported that targets the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in Florida’s public K-12 schools and CRT instruction in the workplace. The bill passed the legislature and was signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2022. Others cited his parental rights legislation and the way he dealt with the Walt Disney Company’s “woke” policies, which wound up getting the company’s head of corporate affairs fired. As one participant in the poll put it, “I admire DeSantis because he stands up to all the woke idiot companies and the backwards way of thinking! He’s a man with a backbone who does the right thing for the people.”

Trump lost the independents and is losing his base.

You're half right. The midterms demonstrate that Trump has lost the independents, based on how badly his candidates did in competitive races. He isn't losing his base. He'll likely be the nominee and lose fairly convincingly to Biden or Newsom.

If the economy is strong it will be an uphill climb for Trump or any other Republican in 2024. DeSantis is smart enough to understand that. It's hard to say right now what the economy will be like next year. I think there's a good chance it will be at least okay, which will be spun as some kind of miraculous achievement by the media. Trump cluelessly will keep talking about how good the economy was under him, not perceiving that the economy's not a potent issue when it's doing fairly well.

“This is an open forum. Share what you think is wrong with Trump.”

I never posted anything negative about Trump before the posters here started attacking DeSantis with their lies and conspiracy theories.

-—————MAGA?

What he’s said before:

May 2017: Trump told Malcolm Turnbull, the Australian prime minister, that “you have better health care than we do.” (Australia has a single-payer system.)

January 2017: “We’re going to have insurance for everybody,”
September 2015: “Everybody’s got to be covered … I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not.”

2000: “I’m a conservative on most issues but a liberal on health … We must take care of our own. We must have universal healthcare.”

"...He became a MAGA congressman in 2012..."

Don't demote the great and powerful Gov Ron.

Gov DeSavage was a founding member of the HFC.

He is a Freedom guy. 10x better than near-meaningless MAGA.

Your crack is showing.

DeSantis is a good candidate for 2028.

YOU want divisiveness in 2024.

Quite obvious.

Yes. When I discuss DeSantis I emphasize his freedom message.

I only use that when when he posted his DeSantis mini-MAGA theme to ticked him off.

“DeSantis is a good candidate for 2028.”

DeSantis would be a great candidate in 2024.

No. I want a true conservative that can serve for eight years.

Every time Trump opens his mouth or posts he divides. He doesn’t know how to unite and has no path to win the presidency.

He lost the independents and is alienated his base.

A lot of people still voted for him while holding their noses.

"...his DeSantis mini-MAGA theme..."

Yes, that is silly.

Unless you assume mini-MAGA means Ron loves America too but is light on supporting socialist programs, SwampJabs, gun-grabbing, Christian-blaming, etc.

In 2011 Trump switched from pro-choice to mothers that had abortions should be punished.

As late as 2017 he was still promoting Universal heath care funded by taxpayers and controlled by the government.

Trumps votes increased by 12mil from 2016.

Dems stole it in 2020.

It will not happen in 2024.

Best way to keep him out is divide the vote.

Guess where you are on the map..........

“Trump is the divider. DeSaantis is the united.”
The only people Desantis has united is the RINO/Globalist Donor Class. Period. Desantis is that group’s chosen Divide and Conquer candidate.
FEC filings reveal this to be a fact. But, you’d have to be an informed individual to know this.
Desantis’ average donation is in the Millions. Donations at that level must be DOCUMENTED. Desantis is being funded by Yeb! donors. Wallstreet and NWO/Globalists.
Again, you’d need to be an informed voter who cares enough to delve into those details to know this. Those people donating at that level do not do so without expectations.
President Trumps FEC data indicates that his funds far outpace Desantis yet, the average donation to President Trump is less than $200.00 per donation.
IOW, President Trump is being funded by the American People.
You are either a woefully ignorant person or a willing tool of the DC Swamp.

Your post makes sense. You are mixing the general election with the primaries.

I do not recall Trump being on that Christmas Eve vote for Obama Care.

You seem to be a reincarnation of John McCain.

Your hypothetical ponderings are useless.

DeSantis has not declared. There are no campaign to make contributions to.

“DeSantis has not declared. There are no campaign to make contributions to.”
LMAO. Are you really this ignorant? Just because a politician has not declared a run for the Presidency does not mean the FEC does not track political donations to politicians. Donations to all politicians are tracked by the FEC. SMH

"As late as 2017 he was still promoting Universal heath care funded by taxpayers and controlled by the government."

Thank God for TrumpRyanCare's embarrassing loss to the House Freedom Caucus. The same good HFC that defied Trump in the Speaker race and beat his ruinous Compromise-First agenda.

And thank God for Gov Ron who was an HFC founding member.

Ron has been steady. Trump is a populist that changes with the political winds.
