Last week, the US sought from North Korea the return of the navy ship USS Pueblo which they seized on January 23, 1968. The House passed a resolution to get the vessel back after 55 years.
The US has maintained its position in the matter, terming the decision to seize the ship and its crew illegal as per international law, highlighting the vessel is the property of the US, and they want it to be returned.
Meanwhile, in a report published by Rodong Sinmun, North Korea’s official newspaper, the country has vowed to wipe out the US land, not just an airfield or port, if the USS Pueblo enters the country’s water again.

A fight not worth fighting. Will do no good but WILL give the North Koreans something more to irritate us over, much to their delight.
I agree. I wish they never got their hands on it but we have many bigger and more urgent problems now.
Exactly. Totally stupid move from here.
“Warship”??
Since when are electronic intelligence ships called that?
The thing is probably barely worth scrap at this point.
Scuttle it.
Maybe we can demand the Iranians return our “lost” drone.
Maybe we can demand the Russians return the captured Abrams tank, too. What? They don’t yet have a captured Abrams tank?
I was there that night and had Lyndon Johnson gave the order the us Air Force could have escorted that ship out of that area.
I’ve heard the North Koreans have made the Pueblo a tourist attraction.
It’s certainly not worth getting into military action to retrieve the ship.
I have to refresh my memory of the Pueblo incident, and President Johnson’s actions at the time. It certainly seemed to be an act of war, but the North Koreans released the crew while keeping the ship in the end. Interesting how that happened.
And we are wasting our time with this why?
Hey Look Squirrel!
Apparently, the GOP will expand its usual circle jerk to include ancient foreign policy matters...
What have they done about addressing our lost freedoms & liberties?
“And we are wasting our time with this why?”
Headline is misleading. Read the article.
Click-nait headline.
“It’s certainly not worth getting into military action to retrieve the ship.”
Why do you mention military action?
When they towed it from the Sea of Japan side, completely around the peninsula in 1999 to Pyongyang, was the golden chance. It was a US Ship in international waters. We should have seized it or sunk it then.
In October 1999, she was towed from Wonsan on the east coast, around the Korean Peninsula, to the port of Nampo on the west coast. This required moving the vessel through international waters.
But we had Bill Clinton in the White House.
Do we plan to give it to Ukraine?
Because I was wondering how anyone suggests us getting the ship back. We probably have asked in the past, the North Koreans apparently like having that ship and won’t give it back voluntarily. So I wondered what exactly we would do if we are “demanding” return of the ship, per the headline.
