Half-baked Tucker Carlson went off the rails with false information. He was suckered into repeating that
Zelensky is ‘banning’ Christianity in Ukraine. This is a false narrative is propagated by Russian disinformation.
No safe harbor for Russian Orthodox Churches to harbor Russian agents or military supplies.

After the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Empire, the Orthodox Church centralized its home in Moscow, claiming to be the only remaining “true” Christian church. Ukrainian parishes were gradually brought under Moscow’s control. In the following centuries, there has been a push for independence by the UOC. This idea gained traction after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.

In 2014, in the aftermath of the Euromaidan Revolution, Patriarch Filaret of Kyiv founded an independent Orthodox Church Of Ukraine without the approval of Moscow, USIP reports.

“We will ensure complete independence for our state. In particular, spiritual independence,” stated Zelensky in response to the recent church crackdown. “We will never allow anyone to build an empire inside the Ukrainian soul.”

“You seem unaware”

Those against the Russian invasion just refuse to “drink the kool-aid” of propaganda fact distortion.

Russia took back the Crimea which has been a part of Russia since the time of Catherine the Great. Catherine took it from the Ottomans (Muslims), the Ottoman's being the greatest enemy Christians have ever faced. I'm more than happy with the Crimea being Russian as are most of the folks living in the Crimea.

In fact I don't give a damn about that fag Zelensky. He can go play the piano with his dick again for all care. Not one more dime him and his corrupt government.

Meanwhile, while you have your panties in a bunch over the Ukraine, the CCP is earnestly preparing for war with the USA in the Pacific. And G*d help us if we lose that one.

Those harvesting support for sending billions and billions to the Ukraine even though it is losing and refuses to negotiate spread Ukrainian propaganda and simply aren’t going to admit anything is amiss. Your game is failing - sadly the Ukraine’s men are being expended like cannon fodder in this proxy war. Many of those unable to fight are leaving to find heat/running water. And you people keep advocating for more war.

So if Mexico or Canada takes where you live your OK with the USA just letting them do it? Russia was just taking back it territory. The only people liking this war are the neocons and the Marxist Democrats, which are you?

THE ORIGIN OF AMERICA’S SECURITY OBLIGATIONS TO UKRAINE

The Budapest Memorandum was an agreement entered into by the U.S., Britain and Russia, providing Ukraine assurances of security, sovereignty and respect for their borders on the condition of Ukraine’s commitment to being a non-nuclear state.

The Memorandum became very relevant nearly 20 years later during Russia’s 2014 invasion of Crimea. Russian President Vladimir Putin was widely criticized for breaking the agreement that was foundational to post-Cold War peace in Eastern Europe. Putin justified the invasion as being in response to a revolution against what he called an illegitimate government in Crimea, spinning Russian involvement as a “humanitarian mission” and supporting Russian separatists in “determination of their own country.”

A Memorandum is not an alliance agreed to by the US government (Congress).

Well, I responded with ample metaphor and humor as well. You didn’t get my humor? :)

Indeed, you shouldn’t take the answer I gave you that the Kremlin men are “green lizards” so literally. In reality they are not lizards. I made a metaphor - obviously.

Good luck!

We owe them nothing and your analogy is as stupid as Roosevelt’s garden hose tale. Ukraine is not our neighbor and not any interest for us. The original talk on this thread was about other countries intervening, meaning us. Another thing, Ukraine knew what Russia was about and had 30 years to prepare to defend itself, yet it seems they did very little.

“...and your analogy is as stupid as Roosevelt’s garden hose tale.”

No, it’s not. There is an old maxim in analyses: Reduce the problem to its most fundamental and basic and immediate (the micro), as that is often a good way to understand the dynamics of the problem (the macro) and how it developed.

“Ukraine is not our neighbor...”

Does it have to be? I mean, in 1939 and 1940 Britain was not our neighbor, yet we armed it and supplied it in its war with Germany. China was not our neighbor in the 1930s, yet we sent it supplies, and even made it possible for American “volunteers” to fly American-made and supplied aircraft against the Japanese.

“...and not any interest for us.”

We had an interest in not seeing Germany conquer Britain, and we had an interest in helping China in its fight against Japan. The situation today vis-a-vis Ukraine is not all that dissimilar.

“The original talk on this thread was about other countries intervening, meaning us.”

A lot of countries are “intervening,” on both sides of the conflict (more on behalf of Ukraine, though).

“Ukraine knew what Russia was about and had 30 years to prepare to defend itself, yet it seems they did very little.”

Yes, Ukraine had and has a very bloody memory of Russia; and knew full well what Russia was about. That’s why it sought closer relations with the West, and it was well on its way in that regard until Yanukovych — a Putin lackey — reneged on his initial support of that direction (which he had campaigned on, in order to get elected; as a majority of the Ukranian people WANTED closer relations with the West), and flipped to a pro-Moscow approach.

Think about it: Pretty much All the former Russian or Soviet (really, they are synonymous) republics or satellites in Eastern Europe — after gaining independence — clamored to join NATO, precisely BECAUSE they knew what Russia was all about, and they wanted no part of it again.

It takes time and capital and hard work to develop a new country. 30 years is not an outlier.

“A Memorandum is not an alliance agreed to by the US government (Congress).”

It doesn’t have to be an alliance. Countries enter into agreements all the time that are not alliances. The US does not need congress to pass or ratify everything. In our system of government, we have three co-equal branches: The Executive (President, cabinet, executive agencies), the Legislative (Congress and its offices), and the Judicial (the Courts). Our Constitution does not require that the branches all sign off on every piece of government business; and each branch has some powers that are unique to it and it alone.

Here we go again. It is their problem, not ours. We have no interests there. The comparison with the Axis and Hitler is overused and a stretch. We have no obligation to a country negligent in providing for its own defense. 30 years is plenty of time to build a strong military. “It is time to act for Ukraine” is a call for expanding the war as we have donated huge amounts of supplies and money.

Well, we see this differently. But we’ll both likely see it come to its denouement.

Time to act should mean sue for peace and surrender.
