Video footage of incident between Tyre Nichols and Memphis Police Department Posted on January 27, 2023

These videos were recorded on the evening of January 7, 2023, in Memphis, Tennessee. Video 1 is a police-issued body-worn camera near the intersection of Raines and Ross Rd. Videos 2, 3, and 4 are video footage at the second location, a residential neighborhood. Video 2 is from a pole camera and contains no audio. Videos 3 and 4 are police-issued body-worn camera videos. These videos have been redacted pursuant to T.C.A. § 10-7-501, et. seq. WARNING: The video contains graphic content and language. Viewer discretion is advised. No winners here. All losers. Tough day for everyone. Lots of armchair quarterbacking. Our kids go on a field trip to Memphis in March. My wife asked me, "Other than school staff chaperones, are their any Little Rock Police Officers going with our children to protect them from Memphis Police Officers"?

It about broke my heart. Double threat of brazen criminals and mal-trained cops. Will probably cancel the trip for my kids.

I never understand why people buck so bad, other than some are higher than a kite and are not rational.

Still, what this guy gave wasn’t equal to what he got. They finally had him under control but it’s my opinion, from what I watched—they wanted to beat him. They became the criminals.

I’ve heard surrounding details and I’m not adding that scuttlebutt to my opinion—just going from what I watched with my own two eyes. That was brutal, I’ll go further...evil.

Best I could gather they are put up by a “community and city” cooperative effort.

So these are city/government/community cameras, yet all these cops didn't know about them?

I'm not saying to be uncooperative. I would still give them my driver's license, insurance, and registration. They already have my plate number and can run the car. I would want them to know that the car wasn't stolen and was being driven by the rightful owner.

But that's it. They have to tell me why they pulled me over.

The beating(s) are bad. Not as bad as Rodney King. The response and inhumanity to the injured Tyre are disgusting. Lots of failures here. No one won. Everyone lost, even those of us watching this.

I believe the blow that killed him was that first kick in the stationary video. That was the murder.

I do as well. And know many in our local law enforcement.

I know a retired Army Ranger who joined our State Troopers a few years ago. He decided to drop out of the training program as he realized how militarized the police had become. He owns an auto repair biz now.

I’m not hating on our police. I know many and encountered several in my life. Good and bad. Mostly good. But bad apples are bad. Period.

And the militarization of our police had been a concern of my late veteran father all the way back to the 70’s-80’s with SWAT teams. He was very conservative...and that really used to bother him.

Most cops don’t have very high IQs. If they did they’d be judges or lawyers.

They’re mostly just jack booted grunts. Especially the ones left after Floyd.

Grew up with a guy whose dad was a Detroit cop awhile back. The stories of street justice were intense. Nobody made it to the precinct without a good hard beating.

The militarization of the police was made worse when Obama gave surplus troop transports from Iran and Afghanistan to local police departments.

Well it’s pretty obvious these officers were more than brutal and completely ignored their training as well as protocol. It was beyond disgusting.

How they jerked him out of his car at the first stop made me think they knew him and could have been out to get the guy for reasons we don’t know.

In court, what happened prior to this particular event is basically meaningless because it still don’t give the cops the right to beat the suspect to death.

..almost hitting a cop....maybe that had something to do with it...

Once when I went to jury duty, we were going through voir dire, and one woman said that she couldn't serve on the jury, because the presiding judge had put her son in jail. That woman was excused :-)

You think if they saw that it wouldn’t be on any video? Do you think the cops wouldn’t release that to help their case if it was on video?

Man you’re a bootlicker. Maybe the cops were out doing crack all night too, sounds more likely from the looks of it.
