Long but well-written article by #NeverTrumper journalist Matthew Continetti (William Kristol's son-in-law).

Here's the Cliff Notes:

Trump's 2024 campaign kickoff sputtered and suffered some setbacks. Nonetheless, he's enjoyed a couple of good weeks recently, mostly due to Biden's own classified documents scandal.

Mainstream Republicans are hoping Trump will simply quietly disappear because they don't want to challenge him. So instead, they're attacking Ron DeSantis, Trump's closest rival (and the man I support for president in 2024).

DeSantis is the biggest obstacle for Trump and currently leads in polling in the important early primary states of South Carolina and New Hampshire.

As in 2016, if there's a crowded GOP primary, Trump will easily win in a war of attrition. In a head to head matchup against DeSantis, this will become more difficult for Trump.

Trump is not out of the game.

OK folks, for all of you who say I never say anything nice about Trump and only post pro-DeSantis articles, here you go!

Ron DeSantis 2024! (But don't cry. If Trump wins the nomination, I'll vote for him.)

As long as there is absentee mail-in voting, elections have no meaning. As long as judges make the ad hoc "voting laws" elections have no meanings. Don't get excited about any candidate. Save yourself the grief.

“OK folks, for all of you who say I never say anything nice about Trump and only post pro-DeSantis articles, here you go!”

With frineds like that, who needs enemies?

It’s for our PDJT, The GOAT, if he wants it.
He never faltered, or slipped. ONLY Never Trumpers saw that in their steamy and heated delusions.

If DeSantis tries without Trumps suport, his political future is over. He is the Heir Apparent, but not yet.

To take on the King, you have to kill the King.

MAGA is alive and well.
Roll MAGA, roll!

What’s really happening is that Trump has obviously been making deals with America’s rulers and they may somehow believe that he can be useful for their agenda.

This weekend will tell us a lot. He has two or three rally’s planned. If they are filled like in 2016, he’s golden. If he has half he may be ok. If it anemic, well then…..we have actual proof this weekend of his lasting strength.

In that spirit, I’ll say again: Trump is right regarding the latest neocon war. Not only correct, but Right.

Theres no denying Trump has a very devoted bloc of fanboys that makes him formidable in the primary. If only the general election consisted entirely of diehard Republican primary voters.

No repubublican has a plausible path to the presidency. Republicans learned nothing from 2020 or 2022. Dems now complexly control voting in ax nv and pa. No path to the presidency without those states. Meanwhile the dems are in continuous improvement mode. McDaniel is a world class loser like her uncle. Yet trump pushed for her to keep her rnc spot. Everything looks like a charade

Yep. But none of that will likely be fixed in time for 2024, if ever.

The leftist/globalist/RINO filth have perfected a multipronged, likely foolproof method of stealing elections now. They rolled out the base model in 2020 and it was a big hit, then, after that massive success, they polished it up a bit and it worked like a charm in 2022.

They'll do it again in 2024 unless by some miracle their fraud machine is stopped dead in its tracks. I don't see that happening. I want to be hopeful, but realism just keeps getting the way. . .

DeSantis was MAGA before Trump. He helped Trump win in 2016.

“What’s really happening is that Trump has obviously been making deals with America’s rulers and they may somehow believe that he can be useful for their agenda.”

Yep, I voted for Trump twice, contributed to his campaign both times, really liked his MAGA promotion, but for some unaccountable reason, my enthusiasm started to wane and I began to think that maybe American should not exist, with all the CRT truths out there. Then, from the ether, I started receiving vibrations and tingles from America’s rulers, who have all started to support Trump, and I can tell I am again warmng to a Trump candidacy again.

Oh, quit you're bellyaching.

We can win if we run candidates that can be elected, not losers.

Ron DeSantis knows a lot about winning elections.

Let me guess, I bet that you consider yourself a SUPPORTER of DeSantis, not a fanboy, but a SUPPORTER.

And I also bet you are a prick.
