CLAIM: On Wednesday Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) said, “We have more people in America that have died in my short lifetime due to gun violence than in every single one of our wars.”
VERDICT: False.
Booker was born in 1969 and claims more people have died via gun violence in the U.S. since that time than have died in all U.S. wars combined.

There are two immediate problems with Booker’s claim. First, it presumes that every firearm-related death is a death due to “gun violence.” In reality, about 66 percent of annual firearm-related deaths in the U.S. are suicides. Breitbart News has pointed this out again and again through the years.

Well... technically, he said, “I’ve seen” more deaths from guns than wars. Given that he never served or went to war, I’d say he’s probably telling the truth! He’s never seen ANYONE die in war. He’s never been to war!

I completely understand that. I was eviscerating Booker’s arguments on his own terms. That’s what has to be done to win in the marketplace of ideas.
Just saying “guns are inanimate objects” doesn’t score any points in the outside world. It just antagonizes the other side and only serves to firm their resolve.

You left out the Civil War; just about 620,000 dead, and that doesn’t include all civilian deaths by whatever means.
