one of the root causes of instability in both countries is that the Pashtun/Pathan people are split nearly 50:50 in both countries and they dominate in Afghanistan, while the Punjabis dominate in Pakistan (Punjabis are also split 60:40 between Pakistan and India, but that's a different question, the split was religious, while there is no real difference between the Pashto speakers in both countries

The best outcome for stability of those countries is that they either form a federation like India (India is a federation of 28 nations - yes, nations each with 1000+ years of individual history, different languages and even scripts) or they balkanize.

As you can see, India and China were the largest two population areas, but France and Germany and Italy were not too far behind

it's not a nation - they kept the provinces and separate "nations" of Punjabi (44%), Sindhi (25%), Baluchi (15%) and Pashto, etc. etc. and tried to create a unity based on Islam. But it didn't work

India, with even more diversity, instead focused on "unity in diversity"

The Pakistani leaders are probably going to stay on and keep robbing the country.

I cannot imagine a scenario where Pakistan does ANYTHING with India. They are nuclear powers with the intent on killing each other.

The Paks broke free of India and they won’t go back.
