Ukraine is finally getting the Western-made tanks that it wants, but there's still a few big items on its wishlist. Kyiv says the next thing it wants is fighter jets.
"We have new tasks ahead: Western-type fighter jets, sanctions, Peace Formula implementation," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said after Germany announced on Wednesday it would send Leopard 2 main battle tanks, a decision that followed weeks of mounting pressure by European countries.
Yuriy Sak, an advisor to the Ukrainian defense minister, concurred, telling Reuters that "the next big hurdle will now be the fighter jets." Some others, however, have pointed to long-range missiles.

Bwahahaha!
You’re the one doing all the screaming, exclamation points and obsessing over who is rooting for who. It’s meaningless, has no effect on anything, let it go.
Just observe. This is life and death, not some half-assed football game.
The issue are when the war started, everyone expected Ukraine to collapse in days or weeks. After Ukraine pushed Russia away from Kyiv in April, Ukraine's chances grew. Javelins ATGMs and other light helped by time. Then mobile artillery, HIMARS, and guided munitions bought more time and allowed for the Kharkiv and Kherson offensives. Tanks and aircraft in numbers require more personnel for training, maintenance, and are expensive to operate. To justify deploying long lead time weapons, there has to be enough time to deploy them.
The longer Russia does not win, the greater their chances of ultimately losing. To the US and Europe, Ukraine is in a sufficiently secure position where deploying tanks and planes is realistic.
Thank you, General Widget Jr.
Just kidding! That’s a rather reasonable take, I’ve got no argument with it in general.
I’m waiting for something decisive to happen but no way to know when or what that might be. Seems like a stalemate for now. I’ll be glad when we can stop spending material and money on it.
F-16s fr fighter cap and A-10 warthogs for plowing the roads.
GIVE THEM NOW,
Then give Pooty an off ramp he cannot refuse.
Its show down time, no more piecemeal aid from a jokey Biden crap. Bring Pooty the heat and make him come to Jesus.
And stop sending them cash which is kicked back to Dem coffers in numbered accounts in Davos and Zurich.
Do we still have F-5s in our flying/working inventory?
Snappy little missile platforms and ground support bombers. Where is napalm when you need it?
What do we have in the Boneyard that could be brought back to life pretty quickly? How about in ready National Guard air units? Not using them on the southern border, are we?

I just watched “All Quiet on the Western Front”, an Academy Award nominated film for 2023.
Why do we do this...fight useless wars?
All I could think was “why is this happening again, in Ukraine, a century later.”
Have we learned nothing?
“…useless war…”.
The Ukrainians, like my family and friends in the Donbas, are a freedom-loving people. The do not wish to live under the Russian and Mohammedans occupiers. Freedom is worth fighting for.
“Russia invaded ukraine. They started it.”
Nope.
Ukraine’s been killing ethnic Russians in Donbass for years. Putin has shown a lot of restraint up to this point but we keep escalating and keep escalating. Eventually the gloves will come off and Russia will simply flatten everything that opposes it with vacuum bombs and tactical nukes. Putin doesn’t wanna conquer a ruin but he will if we make him, and we’re making him.
We don’t have enough nukes to annihilate Russia. Our weapons are too few and our yields aren’t big enough anymore. Russia has shelters for their people. We don’t. Their grid is hardened against EMP whereas ours is not.
Anyone who wants to go to war with Putin, especially in his own neighborhood is a lunatic and will get us all killed.
