Why does the USA and Germany need to ship hundreds of tanks to help if Ukraine is winning?
Also how will Russia respond to this escalation?
If they are delivered to Kiev, Kiev will become a target. If they are driven from Poland to Lviv, Lviv will become a target. This is the escalation Biden/Germany are causing.
Right now it’s pretty much a stalemate. Restore Ukraine’s ability to maneuver and they can defeat many of the Russian forces opposing them, who are too poorly trained and have ineffective C3 to respond to a maneuverable opponent.
“Also how will Russia respond to this escalation?”
It would help if you defined the term.
Escalation often implies increasing force or pressure against parity, such that the escalator performs some act that would eliminate the parity, and put himself in the superior position.
That is clearly not the situation here, as Ukraine is not even close to achieving parity with Russia.
If by “escalation” you mean one side ramped up the pressure regardless of its standing viv-a-vis its foe, that is a different story. In such a case — carried to absurdity — Ukraine would be guilty of escalation if it so much as fired a single rifle round at the invading hordes, instead of just meekly surrenderng.
Define the term, so we know what you are talking about.
Exactly, the time to cut off your forces and shut down resupply to them is when they are doing well in battle.
That is war-winning rule number one, ‘starve battlefield success’, turn off the spigot in midstream, and leave’em hanging.
Question to all those who think the Ukraine War is going good for Ukraine.

I asked a similar question last week. Certain people reacted very angrily.
